The Senior Workday Engineer will be responsible for owning the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of our Workday HCM platform. This role is responsible for architecting scalable solutions, ensuring data integrity, governing integrations, and supporting business-critical HR, Finance, and Payroll processes.
In this role you will have the opportunity to be the primary technical point of contact, ensuring system stability, implementing enhancements, and supporting our team. This is a hands-on role for a proactive problem-solver who can translate business needs into effective Workday solutions.
Key Deliverables;
Administer, configure, and maintain the Workday HCM system, including business processes, security, reporting, and calculated fields.
Serve as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting system issues, providing support, and resolving complex user inquiries.
Manage and maintain the Workday security framework: configure domains, business process security policies, and user-based security groups.
Design, build, and test complex Advanced, Matrix, and Composite reports to meet stakeholder data needs.
Perform regular system maintenance, including bi-annual release review, testing, and deployment of new features.
Monitor integration events, analyse processing times, and optimise orchestration logic to improve reliability and throughput.
Implement structured exception handling, alerting, and automated retry mechanisms to enhance integration resilience.
Lead small to medium-scale enhancement projects from requirements gathering to implementation (e.g., new business process design, integrations with new vendors).
Create and maintain detailed system documentation, process workflows, and training materials.
Perform quarterly user access reviews across all Workday security groups and roles to ensure appropriate access, least-privilege enforcement, and compliance with internal audit requirements.
Proven experience integrating Workday with Peakon (Employee Engagement platform) for worker data synchronisation, organisational hierarchy alignment.
Experience integrating Workday with Calabrio Workforce Management (WFM) for employee master data provisioning, scheduling alignment, and workforce analytics synchronization.
Qualifications;
Workday Pro Certification in HCM, Reporting, or Security
Experiences;
Workday HCM configuration
Workday Studio integrations
EIBs and Core Connectors
Web Services (SOAP/REST)
Calculated fields and reporting frameworks
Workday security model and domain policies
Proven experience with XML, XSLT, JSON, Java
Experience in monitoring and logging workdays support requests and supporting production incidents with strong problem solving skills
Proven expertise in core Workday configuration: Business Process Framework, Security (Domain & ISSG), and Reporting (Advanced/Matrix).
Demonstrated experience managing Workday releases and leading small to medium enhancement projects from start to finish.
Experience working with Peakon and Calabrio
Demonstrated hands-on experience integrating Workday with HR3
Strong capability in configuring SFTP, encrypted payloads or API-driven integrations
