Job Description Summary

If you're an experienced engineering leader who has built and developed high-performing teams in complex overhaul environments, this role puts you at the center of one of GE Vernova's most technically demanding service operations.
As Senior Engineering Manager for the Houston JPort LM Service Shop, you will lead the engineering team responsible for all technical activities supporting the overhaul of aero-derivative gas turbines — including the LM2500, LM6000, and LMS100 product families. You will report to the Engineering Leader and play a key role in sharing best practices across the global Aero Alliance shop network to drive standardization and continuous improvement at scale.
This is a people leadership role at its core. You will hire, grow, and guide a team of engineers while serving as the technical backbone connecting shop operations, design engineering, and channel partners across GE Vernova, GE Aerospace, and Baker Hughes.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop your team — hire, mentor, coach, and support the career growth of engineers along GE Vernova's Technical Career Path; manage workload allocation and the team's technical skill matrix.

  • Own technical work scope — define and review contractual work scopes for LM2500, LM6000, and LMS100 overhaul projects; review technical documents including kick-offs, Visual Inspection Reports, and Final Reports to ensure they meet customer expectations and Company Work Scope Policy.

  • Drive shop integration — participate in Shop Operative Rhythm (weekly induction reviews, engine reviews, and Monthly Operational Reviews (MOR)) to align team priorities with production needs; support the smooth introduction of new products into shop operations.

  • Serve as the technical interface — coordinate with Design Engineering (GE Aerospace), Channels Engineering (GE Vernova and Baker Hughes), Product Leadership, Productivity, and Industrialization functions; support Application Engineering on non-standard bids.

  • Champion continuous improvement — act as a technical reference point for Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, and lean production processes.

Qualifications

You are an engineering leader who combines deep aero-derivative gas turbine expertise with the interpersonal skills to build cohesive, high-performing teams across a fast-moving service environment.

Required

  • Advanced degree (Master's) in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering — or a High School Diploma/GED with significant hands-on experience in aero engine overhaul or engineering (see education note below)

  • Significant experience in aero engine overhaul and/or engineering

  • Prior experience in a team lead or engineering management role

  • Ability to synthesize and communicate complex technical information across all levels of the organization

  • Willingness to travel up to 20%

Preferred

  • Direct experience with one or more of the following platforms: LM2500, LM6000, LM9000, CF6-6, CF6-80, GE90-115B

  • Experience working directly with external customers in a technical or commercial capacity
