We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As a Senior Software Engineer supporting the Software Engineering Team, a typical day will include:

  • Responsible for the development and documentation of complex software applications embedded in state-of-art ophthalmic surgical medical devices.

  • Develop software running on surgical devices to integrate with our cloud-based platform.

  • Participate in all phases of the software lifecycle, including concept development, requirements, design, implementation, and testing.

  • Gaining an in-depth understanding of the anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the eye

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

  • 5 Years of Relevant Experience

  • Work hours:40 hours

  • Travel:up tp 5%

  • Relocation: Yes

Preferred Experience:

  • Extensive hands-on Windows development experience.

  • Extensive Experience with C# & .NET

  • Experience with C++ and Microsoft technology stacks.

  • Experience with healthcare interoperability standards like HL7, FHIR, and DICOM.

  • Experience with Identity & Access Management, Public Key Infrastructure, TLS Encryption, and TCP/IP.

  • Experience with Cloud connectivity.

  • Cybersecurity and related risk mitigation design approaches

  • Graphical User Interface development and customization using Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF\XAML), Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) pattern

  • Development of medical device software in an FDA regulated environment.

  • Extensive experience with multi-threading and interprocess communication.

  • Extensive Software Architecture and Object Oriented Software Design Patterns.

  • Experience using Git

  • Proven ability to independently research technical issues and generate creative/innovative solutions.

  • Familiarity with hardware design constraints as applied to software interfaces.

  • Strong working knowledge of advanced design principles that facilitate maintainability, reuse, and clarity of design.
