As a Group Psychotherapist, you will initiate, coordinate and provide group therapy to patients in the Intensive Outpatient Program. In this position, you will work with a diverse patient population, using your creativity to design topics and facilitate a dynamic and engaging experience. Middle school students, high school students and adults make up the three age groups that the Psychotherapist will rotate between, so flexibility with techniques and communication styles is essential. Outside of working with one age group per day, you will also facilitate individual sessions and complete assessments. As a part of Cleveland Clinic, you will also have continuous education and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills.  

 

A caregiver in this position works three days weekly from 8:30AM – 5:00PM and two days weekly 10:00AM – 6:30PM.  

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Actively participate in program planning and other committees as necessary to ensure integration of the group psychotherapy program into the overall programming of the Center for Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.  

  • Monitor quality assurance outcomes of the group psychotherapy program using appropriately selected indicators. 

  • Provide clear, concise documentation of services rendered for all patients that addresses the several needs of delineating services provided, evaluates the patient's treatment progress within the group therapy experience and provides an adequate basis for reimbursement of services. 

  • Attends multidisciplinary treatment team conferences as requested. 

  • Communicate appropriate clinical information to physicians, nurses and other colleagues involved in patient care. 

  • Develop, administer and adapt programs and treatment procedures to assigned patients on the basis of assessed needs and the interdisciplinary treatment plan. 

  • Set and maintain appropriate limits and manage disruptive behavior accordingly. 

  • Document and enter pertinent patient information into the medical record. 

  • Participate in making referrals, coordinating treatment and discharge planning in the multidisciplinary approach to patient management. 

  • Screen all assigned patients for appropriateness to the intensive outpatient program. 

  • Complete intake evaluation and assessments on assigned patients. 

  • Develop an individualized care plan for assigned patients. 

  • Identify appropriate problems/needs and goals of patients. 

  • Provide or direct patient care from admission through discharge. 

  • Systematically record the progress of the patients in the intensive outpatient program. 

  • Participate in quality assurance activities to evaluate the effectiveness of patient care. 

  • Provide clinical and community education to psychiatric residents, other professional clinical students and selected community groups as directed by the Clinical Manager. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling 

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with no record of substantiated ethics or patient abuse reports 

  • Two years of experience in Mental Health with one year of leading group therapy 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Experience leading therapy with all age groups (especially working with adolescents aged 12 and up)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to climb stairs, pull, push and facilitate movement of the patient.

  • Must have normal or correctable vision.

  • Must have normal or correctable hearing to be able to hear normal conversations.
