Team Overview:
The Applied Research & Technology (ART) team, part of Collins Aerospace, works with teams around the globe, collaborating with them towards building prototypes, demonstrators, and new products, thereby enabling better innovation and business outcomes for Collins Aerospace.
The ART - AI Research & Metaverse team, part of ART, pursues advanced, emerging, and disruptive technologies and methods relevant to multiple strategic business units (SBUs) with a focus on AI/ML and AR/VR technologies.

Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to grow and develop the ART - AI Research team. The individual will provide technical leadership to multiple advanced and disruptive technology projects, collaborating with diverse stakeholders across the globe. They will also guide teams in delivering successful Proofs of Concept, technology demonstrators, and new product developments.
We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about AI/ML technology development, with a strong background in developing AI/ML applications and a sound knowledge of aerospace products and services. The ideal candidate will be an active communicator, an effective influencer, and comfortable operating in the dynamic, fast-changing environment of research and innovation.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Drive end-to-end execution of AI-/ML projects, from requirements definition and architecture design to technology stack selection, development, and deployment.
Advance innovation by conducting state-of-the-art research, identifying relevant AI/ML technologies for engineering use cases, and securing customer confidence through successful design reviews.
Strengthen client stakeholder partnerships by serving as the primary point of contact for project updates, risks, and change management.
Shape technology strategy by tracking and evaluating emerging AI/ML trends and industry disruptions, translating them into actionable opportunities.
Elevate organizational visibility through active participation in international AI/ML conferences and symposiums, publishing high-impact research and white papers.
Key Competencies & Skillsets:
Strong domain knowledge of using AI/ML to develop AI-assisted engineering solutions and AI enabled products.
Knowledge and exposure on agentic AI frameworks for software development, AI copilots for engineering workflows, or intelligent automation tools that accelerate product development.
Proficiency in at least two languages (Python, C, C++, C#, or Java), with the ability to architect and deliver production-grade, scalable solutions.
Strong knowledge and understanding of MLOps pipeline is a plus.
Depth in NLP, CV, or Data Analytics, with working knowledge of others. Exposure to GenAI/XAI is a plus.
Clear communicator with ability to drive cross-functional outcomes.
Strong orientation toward compliance, safety, and process rigor.
Thrives in fast-paced, accountable environments with discipline and reliability.
Proficiency in Python and AI/ML libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Transformers).
Basic Qualifications:
Required Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science engineering, Electrical /Electronic & Communications Engineering or other fields of engineering with specializations in AI/ML.
Experience with product development is a plus

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.
Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). If you live within a reasonable commute of an RTX site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
Requires theoretical to advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through University Degree combined with experience. Practical knowledge of RTX projects, programs
or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.
Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience.
Engineering/Other Technical Positions:Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics(STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
