Job Details:

The Mercer University School of Medicine is searching for a Assistant Director of Medical Simulation on the Columbus, Georgia campus.


 

Responsibilities:

The Assistant Director of Medical Simulation is responsible for oversight of the Simulation Center at their assigned campus and the educational programs utilizing the center. This position will plan, implement, and supervise educational training and exercises within the simulation center as well as teach students within their scope of practice.  The person in this role will act under the indirect supervision of the Director of Medical Simulation. This position requires collaborative interaction with Curriculum Directors throughout the medical school, HCA Healthcare/Mercer University School of Medicine residency and fellowship training programs, and affiliates.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree and demonstrated professional, relevant healthcare experience related to the certification OR an equivalent combination of education (associate's degree and/or certification in Emergency Medical Services, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy or an equivalent clinical field) and experience related to the respective certification are required. Must have current state license as RN/LPN, NREMT-P, RRT, or equivalent clinical profession. Must hold ACLS and BCLS instructor certifications through the AHA or ARC or completed within 3 months of being hired. Candidates with prior experience in medical education, simulation development, and/or curriculum development are highly desirable.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to multi--task across multiple domains (office, simulation coordination, biomass mobilization)

  • Ability to operate basic office equipment: Computers, scanner, copier, etc. 

  • Skill in oral and written communication, including interviewing potential new team members.

  • Ability with users requiring varying degrees of need and expectations.

  • Ability to work as a member of a team and autonomously; flexibility with various job requirements, positive attitude, imitative, willingness to learn and perform new task.
