At Caterpillar’s Sanford, NC facility, we manufacture and assemble Compact Track Loaders. In this role as a Senior Production Manager, you will be primarily responsible for managing the day-to-day operations, supporting staff, and future planning of all shifts.  As a member of the Manufacturing Operations team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What you will do: 

  • Manage staffing, development, and performance management programs for operations staff; managing, motivating, and developing management team.  
  • Oversee operations activities, ensuring that safety, and schedules and performance requirements are met and system resources are used effectively. 
  • Drive improvements for overall operations performance and implementing production safety, cost, and quality control mechanisms. 
  • Ensure the compliance of all regulatory guidelines, safety policies / process and operational excellence. 

What skills you will have: 

  • Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.  
  • Performance Management: Knowledge of successful performance management techniques; ability to apply organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance.  
  • Manufacturing Operations: Knowledge of manufacturing operations including in paint; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products. 
  • Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, the environment and site.  

Top Candidates will also have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree OR 5 years of manufacturing experience. 
  • Robotic manufacturing experience 
  • 7 or more years’ experience in manufacturing and leadership roles 
  • Experience managing teams to production, budgetary, and efficiency targets. 
  • Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment or other similar roles including the Military. 
  • Experience with powdercoat systems, liquid paint systems, pre-treat chemical application, shot blast operations. 
  • Experience in multiple manufacturing support disciplines. 
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt. 
  • Thorough knowledge of Lean Manufacturing processes.
