Job Summary
The Infrastructure Analyst at NAV CANADA plays a key role in designing, building, and securing critical IT (Information Technology) and OT (Operational Technology) infrastructure. Our team works with advanced security technologies to ensure the protection and reliability of infrastructure that supports essential air traffic control and operational safety.
As an Infrastructure Analyst, you will tackle complex challenges, from safeguarding enterprise systems to ensuring continuous serviceability. You’ll be involved in every stage of the lifecycle, from gathering requirements and designing solutions, to implementing, monitoring, and responding to incidents around the clock.
This role offers the opportunity to enhance and secure infrastructure that is vital to air traffic control operations, while contributing to lifecycle management, continuous improvement, and compliance with NAV CANADA’s security standards.

Key Accountabilities:
- Design, build, and implement security solutions for IT and OT projects, as well as business requests, to meet business and operational needs.
- Participate in infrastructure integration projects by gathering requirements, preparing implementation plans, and ensuring successful execution.
- Configure, install, and maintain security devices such as next-generation firewalls, web application firewalls, load balancers, and other related systems.
- Manage daily requests and changes to the security infrastructure for both IT and OT environments, ensuring the integrity and protection of critical systems.
- Review and interpret security alerts, assess potential risks, and develop mitigation strategies to address incidents and security threats, keeping stakeholders informed of actions taken.
- Proactively monitor and manage perimeter security, addressing vulnerabilities to maintain seamless infrastructure service.
- Develop and update technical documentation for security changes, system maintenance, and upgrades, ensuring all work complies with NAV CANADA’s security policies and best practices.
Job Requirements
Education:
- Degree from a recognized university or community college with an acceptable specialization in computer, electrical engineering, systems engineering, computer science or information systems, and at least 5 years of related experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience designing, building, and implementing network and security infrastructure solutions.
- 5-7 years of experience supporting day to day of security appliances.
- Recent experience within the last 5 years in providing advice or recommendation to management regarding hardware procurement, design and/or operation of IT/OT infrastructure services.
Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of infrastructure systems and technologies within one or more domains, such as Networking and Security.
- Experience with configuring Next-Gen Firewalls, VPN technologies, Web Application Firewalls (WAF), and/or IDS/IPS in operational environments.
- Familiarity with current trends and best practices in Network Security.
- Knowledge of security zoning or network segmentation to isolate and protect critical systems within hybrid or private cloud environments.
- Understanding of security controls such as NIST (ITSG-38, ITSG-22) in hybrid or private cloud settings.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and procedures, as well as experience with ITSM tools in an operational context.
Abilities:
- Ability to assess complex IT and OT infrastructure needs, spot potential security risks, and design secure, scalable solutions that align with the organization’s goals.
- Skill in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues across various systems to minimize downtime and keep network and security infrastructure running smoothly.
- Ability to work well within a team, sharing knowledge and supporting overall objectives, while helping to ensure 24/7 service availability.
- Skill in clearly explaining technical concepts and solutions to both technical experts and non-technical stakeholders, both in writing and verbally.
- Ability to take initiative in identifying opportunities for infrastructure improvements and driving innovative solutions that meet security standards.

Working conditions :
- Occasional Travel required.
- On-call required for this position.
- This position is based at Ottawa TSC but may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
