Qualifications:

  • Current Montana RN License or a multi-state compact license with authorization to practice nursing within the state of Montana; required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required.  Master’s degree in hospital administration, health, business, or public health preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) year’s leadership experience required.
  • Experience working within a Critical Access Hospital in a leadership role preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Job Specific Duties:

  • Interprets, supports, and models behaviors consistent with the mission, vision and values of the system and department/service.  Develops, implements, and assists in the advancement of the mission and vision through strengthening the rural health care delivery system by ensuring retention of appropriate care locally through clinical integration, clinical standardization and improving the clinical quality of care delivery locally and within the region.
  • Ensures the success and credibility of the Regional Services Network through the delivery of innovative, quality, and cost-efficient programs to support an integrated regional system of health care and assists rural health care providers who seek out alliances for business and clinical quality reasons. 
  • Oversees MSA deliverables of nursing services, quality and patient safety, population health, education and training, and regulatory (Environment of Care, Life Safety and Emergency Management).
  • Directs regional clinical initiatives through a collaborative approach. Consults and provides clinical operational recommendations on best practices in nursing services across the care continuum.
  • Establishes a vision of excellence with a customer service orientation and demonstrated quality outcomes, charting the course in response to the developing and shifting needs of the local community and the affiliate/managed organizations.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with the regional sites.  Serves as a liaison and channel of communication between regional sites and Logan Health.
  • Works closely with the Transfer Center, Care Management Team and appropriate stakeholders to ensure processes for patient transfers from and to affiliate/managed facilities and to ensure discharges back to local community occur as appropriate.
  • Works collaboratively with Nursing leadership to ensure the practice of nursing meets established standards of care and competency requirements, state/federal regulatory compliance and accreditation standards.  Monitors compliance to these standards and works with nursing and Regional Services leadership to address areas of concern.
  • Develops and maintains community relationships as it relates to the continuum of care.  Monitors hospital, clinic, medical services, assisted living and/or long-term care activities and identifies trends, problems and/or issues.
  • Participates in the development of patient care delivery models and/or care programs, policies and procedures and quality metrics related to patient care needs and/or patient populations receiving care are assessed, evaluated and met.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of hospital, clinic, and medical services, assisted living and/or long-term care to patients.  Participates in the implementation of an effective, ongoing program to measure, assess, and improve the quality of patient care.  Monitors compliance to the plan.
  • Participates in both short- and long-term planning for departmental functions, budgetary processes and fiscal control.
  • Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency environmental, employee and/or patient safety standards relevant to job performance and ensures staff adherence. Monitors and ensures compliance with quality and regulatory standards (i.e., DNV, CMS, OSHA, Magnet, etc.). Prevents, minimizes and/or corrects risks to patients/residents, families, physicians, and other health care providers. Investigates unusual occurrences and follows appropriate procedures.
  • Utilizes process improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of patient/resident care. Assists affiliates to coordinate and develop quality initiatives based on patient satisfaction scores, medication error data, employee satisfaction scores, regulatory compliance, and/or other issues as identified.
  • Acts as a resource for physicians, other health care providers, patients/residents, and families. Identifies needs and sets goals for professional growth and development, meets all mandatory system/departmental educational requirements. Maintains knowledge of current clinical trends and developments as it relates to job scope.

Schedule:

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week.  Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
