  • Location: Evanston Hospital
  • Full Time/Part Time: Resource - per diem
  • Hours: Friday's, 8am-4:30pm.
  • Brief Overview:
  • The Dental Hygienist provides optimal dental health for patients seen in the Dental Center. Practice includes oral prophylaxis procedures, exposure and processing of X-Ray films of the teeth and surrounding structures, the application of chemical compounds designed to be desensitizing agents or effective agents in the prevention of carries, administration of local anesthetics, scaling and root planning and services which may be performed by a dental assistant.

    What you will do:
  • Provides clinical oral hygiene services to adult, and geriatric patient populations including dental prophylaxis, scaling, sealant application and fluoride application as delegated and directed by a dentist; ensures services provided are consistent with accepted professional practices and standards.
  • Documents and accurately records pertinent clinical records patient-hygienist transactions as they occur in the patient’s dental record within an electronic record keeping system so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided.
  • Responsible for patient comfort as well as patient/guardian understanding of treatment to be delivered.
  • Provides appropriate individual counseling and oral health education.
  • Assists in the maintenance of all dental department areas in compliance with dental clinic directive and policies and procedures relative to infection control, exposure control and safety issues.
  • Assists with various clinical and administrative functions of the clinic as appropriate and time permits.

What you will need:

  • Associates Degree Dental Hygiene Required
  • 2 Years dental hygienist field experience preferred.
  • Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) unrestricted licensure to practice oral hygiene in the state of Illinois. Required
  • AHA Heartsaver CPR - American Heart Association (AHA) Required
