Job Summary:

This position is accountable for the accurate and timely administration of end to end payroll processing of employees. The position is also responsible in processing bonuses, final pay processing and other special payments. This position reports to the Payroll Director. This position is likewise responsible for the provision of compensation-related data and preparation of compensation-related reports.

He/she should exhibit knowledge in the payroll processes with clear understanding of basic operational requirements. Can provide recommendations for payroll related and compliance risk issues. The key traits for the individual in this position are: good communication skills, team player, creative, good understanding of the different regulatory laws affecting the payroll process that will drive excellent performance and positive outcome.

Role and Responsibilities

Directly reporting to the Payroll Director under the People Operations in Manulife, this role will be responsible for the following:

Administers employee end to end payroll processing which includes payroll input consolidation and preparation, validation of payroll results, coordination with the payroll vendor and bank to ensure accuracy and timely disbursement of salaries.

Handles administration and calculation of final pay for separating employees.

Administers processing of bonus and special payments.

Attends to audit requirements conducted by internal and external auditors in timely manners and sees to it that all documents required are complete and accurate.

Prepares payroll related reports.

Serves as POCs and provides support to the business and finance for any payroll related requirements.

Performs records management.  Manages highly confidential employee data specifically on government and company payroll related information.

Coordinates with Finance and vendor for lodgment processes on insurances, housing fund and tax.

Leads in providing People Operations data, system and process solutions to support business and HRP on local related HR matters Leads process improvement implementations and will be the main POC for local, regional and global projects and initiatives that impact the payroll, pension and benefits scope of work.

Support other company specifics initiatives and regulatory requirements such as Annual Physical Exam.

Handles AskHR tickets related to payroll.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 2 to 3 years of demonstrated experience payroll administration. Exposure to the benefits process and other HR operations functions is an advantage.
  • Cross-cultural experience gained from working in culturally diverse environments; experience working in a shared services organization is an advantage
  • Knowledgeable of statutory and labor regulations.
  • With excellent skills in using Microsoft applications (Advance Excel, Macro, Powerpoint, etc); With working knowledge in using Workday is a great advantage.
  • Good communication and customer service skills; organized and result oriented, key attention to details is critical to this role. Flexible, committed, and dependable.
