Position Summary:
The Acute Care Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist Trainee provides health care services by assisting in diagnosis or treatment. Will learn to perform MRI procedures, producing images for the interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Learning the operation of a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images used in the diagnosis and treatment of patient pathologies. With the added knowledge of imaging techniques and cross-sectional anatomy to create high quality images for interpretation by radiologists and other medical professionals. Modifies technical settings and adjusts scanning parameters to enhance images and minimize unnecessary exposure. Performs routine inspections and maintenance on scanner and archives imaging data.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required
- Graduate of Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited Radiology program or equivalent
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- American Heart Association BLS within 90 days of hire
- Demonstrates willingness to learn and grow in order to perform emergency/trauma MRI procedures that may require anesthesia and other MRI exams for all populations including Neonates, Pediatrics, and adults
- Shows a general knowledge of MRI and the safety practices that are involved with imaging patients.

Essential Job Functions:
In addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must have on-time completion of all required education as assigned per DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements.
- Will learn to perform MRI exams and procedures for NICU, CCU, ED and other hospital departments as requested by medical staff.
- Performs ancillary duties as required to maintain proper distribution, billing, and archival of exams and procedures.
- Completes documentation, in designated area, of all information required for proper interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams.
- Retrieves and files exam jackets, written orders, and related health information to ensure the timely performance and reporting of MRI exams and procedures.
- Participates in the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of hospital quality indicators as described in the strategic plan.
- Trainee required to sign work commitment prior to MRI opportunity and will become ARRT Certified upon completion.
- Trainee is required to have bimonthly performance eval to ensure progression of MRI skills.

Physical Requirements
- Lifting, Pushing, and Pulling: Support 50 pounds of weight (patient, assist with bedside needs, etc.) Lift 50 pounds (pick up a child, transfer a patient, etc.) Carry equipment/supplies. Use upper body strength (CPR, physically restrain patient, etc.)
- Extended Hours: The role may involve working for extended periods, requiring sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily.
- Flexible Schedule: The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
- On-Call Availability: On-call work may be required to respond to organizational and patient needs promptly.
- Effective Communication: Proficient in effective communication, both in person and through various technologies.
- Handling Challenging Situations: The role may involve dealing with upset individuals, requiring the ability to de-escalate situations and work effectively with frustrated patients or families.
