The Material Specialist position will be responsible for managing materials that have critical impact on the organization. Responsibilities will include critical material escalations, inventory control, E&O analysis and projections, New Product Material readiness, etc.
Develop the strategic direction, goals, objectives, and key measurement systems to ensure the business goals are met.
Job Responsibilities:
- Critical Material escalation -Manage the critical material escalation process with the CMs; ensure that the process is working smoothly and that we have clear visibility on materials over a 26-week horizon. Work with the CMs and the GCMs (Global Commodity Managers) on all identified material issues (including sub-tier supply chain) until issues get closed/resolved.
- New Product Materials Readiness -During NPI (new product introduction) ramp up stage, work with GCMs to make sure material readiness (supplier capacity readiness, inventory program etc.). Identify issues early in the NPI phase and monitor/drive these to resolution prior to ramp.
- Inventory control: lead review with CMs in terms of PO cancellations and push outs. Periodical review with GCMs in terms of reasonable MOQ set up.
- Allocations -Play a key role in the allocation of components that are in short supply. Work with the planning team to ensure we allocate parts to maximize revenue. Work with GCMs to ensure that we have good strategy to get enough supply.
- E&O -Coordinate E&O review when we PDN a product and phase in a new product. Identify E&O in advance to ensure we make the correct company decisions regarding build plan changes, cut-in vs. roll-in requirements. Highlight parts with liability and propose solutions to management.
- Upon ECN or EOL events, track & audit CM’s E&O claims, report to Finance for financial reserves, and ensure timely resolution and closure of such claims/reserves.
- Coordinate PPV reviews with Finance and GCMs. Make sure we address/eliminate unfavorable PPV on a timely manner.
Required Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree above
- 5~8 years material management experience with Purchasing (or Planning) /MRP
- Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills.
- Fluent in English (speaking and writing)

- Strategic business process leadership, innovative, results oriented.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and under pressure, to achieve requested timing and quality of assigned tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive projects through to completion
- Demonstrated ability to organize and manage effectively, and with high quality, a large quantity of ambiguous or complex work
- Experience with Agile Product Lifecycle Management and Oracle R12 a plus
- Proficiency in MS Office, MS Outlook, Web applications (Stronger experience with Excel a plus)
