Reporting to the Dean of the College of Health and Education, the Director oversees a team of five direct reports, including a Program Manager, Clinical Coordinators, Director of Simulation, Student Success Coordinator, and Administrative Assistants, as well as full-time faculty, and adjunct faculty (including lab, clinical, and didactic adjuncts). 

Duties of the Director Include:
●    Implementing the program and curriculum for all nursing programs, including a traditional BSN, accelerated BSN (ABSN), masters, and doctor of nursing practice (DNP) programs.
●    Oversee admissions processes for the school of nursing, including guiding policy on admissions criteria; and collaboration with the MU admissions teams to facilitate efficient operations
●    Lead the implementation of academic progression and graduation policies and processes
●    Manage full-time and part-time (adjunct) faculty and staff including leading hiring processes, onboarding, mentoring, and evaluations
●    Develop and administer the budget for the school of nursing in accordance with university policy and procedures
●    Oversee processes of continuous improvement and innovation
●    Organize and lead a Community Advisory Board of external clinical partners to provide guidance and direction to the school based on community and workforce needs
●    Champion student success by leading initiatives to improve retention across all programs
●    Provide support for faculty through professional development and mentoring 
●    Lead accreditation efforts, ensuring the school continues to meet or exceed all standards; lead processes of re-accreditation, annual reporting, and substantive change reporting as required by accreditors
●    Ensure the program meets or exceeds all standards as required by regulations within the Commonwealth of Virginia; including maintaining a current faculty roster, a current clinical agency form, and current clinical contracts available for board review and subject to an audit; and 5. Only serve as program director at one location or campus
●    Maintains communication with the Virginia Board of Nursing, including submitting reports and surveys, as required by regulations or by request; ensures that faculty are qualified by education and experience to teach in the program or to supervise the clinical practice of students in the program
●    Strengthen and celebrate diversity, inclusion, and equity, fostering a culture in which widely diverse values, experiences, and ideas are welcomed and viewed as essential in the development of academic excellence.
Qualifications:
●    Current license or multistate licensure privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia without any disciplinary action that currently restricts practice
●    Doctoral degree in nursing, or doctoral degree in a related field with a graduate degree in nursing
●    Minimum of two years’ teaching experience in pre-or post-licensure nursing programs 
●    Preferred minimum of three years’ experience in an administrative position with direct responsibility for the administrative decision-making process of the educational program.
