Summary:

The Security Director - MRH directs the department’s activities and resources to ensure the 24-7-365 safety and security of all patients, visitors, staff and physicians while on the Memorial Healthcare System (MHS) premises. This role is responsible for the security of Memorial Regional Hospital (MRH), Joe Di Maggio Children’s Hospital (JDCH) as well as off-site locations such as the Memorial Manor, Outpatient 24-7 Care Center, Emergency Department, IT-Data Center, Warehouse, Behavioral Health Clinic and Care Coordination Center (CCC) as well as expanded oversight of other Memorial Healthcare System (MHS) facilities. The Director is also tasked with driving strategic initiatives related to security technology, emergency preparedness, emergency management and, safety training, and law enforcement collaboration across the broader system.

Responsibilities:

Reviews, updates, and enforces security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Promotes a culture of continuous improvement by analyzing security incidents and developing proactive strategies to prevent future risks.Provides direct supervision and leadership to security staff, ensuring daily operations are executed efficiently and in compliance with safety protocols. Responsible for recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluation, continuing education, and disciplinary actions. Oversees contracted security personnel, parking shuttles and law enforcement partners, ensuring integration and optimization of security resources.Oversees security for MRH, JDCH and off-site locations including outpatient centers, administrative offices, and system warehouses. Directs security integration for new facilities and large-scale events, ensuring smooth operations and effective risk management across all MHS sites.Develops, implements, and updates the security department’s goals, plans, and standards in alignment with MHS’s organizational objectives, administrative policies, and ethical guidelines. Oversees comprehensive risk assessment and mitigation strategies across all MHS locations.Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Stays informed of evolving security threats and criminal activity, proactively implementing measures to protect MHS assets. Works closely with Risk Management and Legal to review hospital-based risks and conduct MorCare Concurrent Care Manager (MCCM) reports; takes necessary legal action.Manages the department’s budget, ensuring financial accountability and compliance with allocated resources. Coordinates internal and external audits, prepares financial reports, and implements cost-saving initiatives to optimize departmental performance.Participates in the development and execution of the system's emergency management plans, disaster preparedness, and response strategies for mass casualty events and/or any other catastrophic incidents. Participates in system wide committees and collaborates with other healthcare entities to drive best practices in violence prevention response and emergency activation response.Oversees the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of security systems, including CCTV, access control, infant protection systems, alarms, panic buttons, Fast Pass visitor management, Evolv weapons detection systems, Flock camera systems, and security vehicles. Coordinates with IT and vendors to implement advanced security technologies, particularly for new construction projects and expansion into additional MHS sites.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action when required. Position requires ability to work off hours and be available for after hour consultation. Must be able to pass and maintain clear background investigation. Required Work Experience: At least Seven (7) years of experience in security, healthcare security, law enforcement or military with progressive leadership.
