About This Opportunity

Our Midwifery discipline is experiencing consistent growth, and we have a rare opportunity for a Senior Lecturer to join our friendly team. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a leadership role in a high-level research environment, experience excellent mentorship, and educate the future generation of Midwives. You will leverage your established record of achievement in teaching (including clinical teaching, where appropriate), research, and service and engagement to propel you towards genuine career progression opportunities.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching: Develop and deliver courses, engage in innovative curriculum design, coordinate engaging courses, assess students, provide academic counselling, and adhere to university teaching rules.

  • Research: Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.

  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.

  • Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

About You

  • Completion of a PhD in the discipline or other relevant area.

  • An established profile in teaching and research in the discipline area.

  • National recognition in the area of expertise, with an internationally developing profile and an established record of publications in reputed refereed journal and presenting at conferences.

  • A strong record of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.

  • Evidence of a high level of quality teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups.

  • A strong track record of course coordination and participation in the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area.

  • A solid record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.

  • A growing record of meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with a strong contribution to external activities.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, education check, AHPRA registration, and mandatory immunisations.
