Job Description Summary

Activities contributing to the design, analysis, and development of steam turbine rotating steampath components and solutions for Conversion, Modification, and Upgrade (CM&U) projects. This role supports the execution of technical projects for unique and complex applications, applying sound engineering principles and rotating steampath expertise to meet business and project objectives related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. The position also contributes to team capability through knowledge sharing, coaching, and continuous improvement. Impacts departmental operations and is responsible for planning and executing assigned work within established engineering practices and procedures. Some judgment and autonomy are required.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and in accordance with business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Independently design and deliver steampath solutions for unique and complex steam turbine applications, ensuring alignment with design practices, project timelines, and Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives.
  • Apply rotating steampath expertise to execute assignments with high quality and on-time delivery.
  • Support Steam Turbine Conversion, Modification, and Upgrade (CM&U) delivery through design and analysis of rotating steampath components.
  • Serve as the team focal point for rotor lifing studies, rotor bow repair, and other infrequent rotating component activities.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of rotating steampath engineering and apply prior experience and technical expertise to execute work and support business objectives.
  • Use judgment to evaluate technical issues, propose solutions within established parameters, and resolve straightforward to moderately complex problems with guidance as needed.
  • Work across internal teams and use multiple sources of technical input to support sound engineering decisions.
  • Support the development of newer engineers through coaching, knowledge sharing, and informal guidance on steampath engineering principles and assigned work.
  • Create and share technical resources, best practices, and lessons learned to improve team effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities to improve steampath designs, processes, or methodologies based on field learnings and customer feedback.
  • Support continuous improvement by recommending and applying better technical approaches and standards where appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in steam turbine rotating components, steampath design, or related mechanical systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university or college.
