Job Description

Purpose: Toolmakers are responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining high-precision injection and blow mold components used in production. This role requires strong machining skills, blueprint interpretation, and the ability to hold tight tolerances in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Construct, refurbish, and repair mold components to precise tolerances

  • Disassemble, evaluate, troubleshoot, and reassemble injection and blow molds

  • Diagnose mold performance issues and recommend corrective solutions

  • Perform preventive maintenance and tool improvements to extend mold life

  • Set up and operate manual and CNC equipment (mill, lathe, grinder, etc.)

  • Work with equipment such as Okuma, Mori-Seiki, Hurco, Studer, CMM and similar platforms

  • Machine components from raw stock to print specifications

  • Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and maintain tight tolerances

  • Interpret tooling blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical documentation

  • Identify opportunities to improve tooling performance and efficiency

  • Recommend and implement process improvements

  • Maintain accurate documentation of repairs and modifications

  • Ensure all work meets internal quality standards and customer specifications

  • Maintain an organized and clean work area

  • Support daily toolroom operations and collaborate with production teams

Qualifications, Skills, Experience (Required):

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately

  • Experience operating manual and/or CNC machining equipment

  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments

  • Ability to push/pull up to 75 lbs (minimum 10 times per shift)

  • Ability to stand and walk for 8+ hours per shift

  • Ability to safely operate or learn to operate a forklift

  • Must not be at risk of sudden alterations in consciousness

Qualifications, Skills, Experience (Preferred):

  • Journeyman Toolmaker license

  • Injection mold experience

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience holding tight tolerances in high-precision environments

Additional Information:

  • This is a full time, fully on-site position, with either first or second shift availability depending on the specific toolmaker position being filled.

  • The pay range for this role is $24-$36 an hour, and is entirely dependent on education, experience, journeyman license possession, and/or other relevant experience.
