Business Banking (BB) manages relationships with Commonwealth Bank’s small-medium enterprise customers, mid-market corporate customers, and regional and agribusiness customers, providing a wide range of financial services and solutions. It also services our personal and institutional online trading customers.

Everyday Business Banking supports the full spectrum of customers’ cash management needs from the smallest businesses to the largest corporates, as well as helping them to accept payments through in-person and ecommerce solutions. The Deposits and Transactions team is accountable for the development and management of all cash management accounts and their associated customer experiences across these segments.

The Product Owner (PO) role will report to the Crew Lead and lead the Virtual Accounts Product Development squad within the Crew. The PO will be accountable for setting a multi-year strategic vision and quarterly roadmap, based on customer insights, sound commercial management, and alignment to Business Banking and organisational strategies.

The role is accountable for delivering complex product and platform initiatives across core banking systems, managing risk and regulatory obligations, and ensuring solutions are scalable, secure and aligned to future strategic needs. You will collaborate closely with core P&L squads, customer journey and delivery squads, enterprise technology teams, architecture, operations, external vendors and business stakeholders, and are expected to demonstrate highly advanced influencing and delivery leadership skills.

You will drive quarterly prioritisation, manage a backlog of strategic initiatives and define measurable outcomes aligned to business strategy. The PO is accountable for managing squad performance and leading delivery across large-scale, cross-functional programs with significant technical and operational complexity.

Do Work That Matters

  • Lead and develop the product roadmap, and engagement with senior stakeholders/business units (Business and Technology) to execute the delivery of the product roadmap.
  • Manage large-scale product change and technical delivery across multiple systems, teams and dependencies, ensuring strong governance, execution discipline and delivery outcomes.
  • Accountable for end-to-end value delivery management, including requirements management, solution design alignment, production deployment, release coordination and operational readiness.
  • Drive prioritisation and delivery of initiatives involving core banking platforms, enterprise integrations, vendor platforms and customer channels.
  • Engage with core banking and strategic technology suppliers to deliver platform enhancements, resilience improvements and scalable future-state capabilities.
  • Identify, articulate and manage complex risks, dependencies, delivery constraints and compliance obligations across multiple workstreams and stakeholder groups.
  • Partner with architecture, engineering and delivery teams to ensure solutions are strategically aligned, technically feasible and operationally sustainable.
  • Drive decision-making and resolution of complex delivery impediments and escalations across business and technology stakeholders

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, dependencies and delivery risks across multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technology concepts into clear business and customer outcomes.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to balance strategic, operational and technical trade-offs.
  • Experience working in an agile environments and core banking required.
