OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT/SECTION

Corporate Advisory focuses on the origination and execution of Acquisition Finance, Debt Advisory, Credit Rating Advisory and ESG Advisory mandates

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE 

To support the securing of mandates for MUFG as a lead bank in the structuring and execution of event financing and advisory related transactions

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out analysis of industries and companies (business, market, strategy, financial modelling, ESG and event-driven situations) necessary for the identification of potential strategic financing mandates
  • Take initiative to develop relevant technical expertise, as well as to help in the development towards MUFG winning advisory mandates.
  • Take the lead in developing the relevant analysis to show (inter alia) pro forma merger financials, sensitivity scenarios, the impact of potential reorganisations / disposals / IPO / synergies, key ratio (including credit rating agencies’) analysis, liquidity to inform decision making at senior levels.
  • Support (and lead where appropriate) the preparation and presentation of (i) the necessary client marketing and financing advisory materials (presentations, pitch books etc.) and (ii) the supporting internal approval documents, in coordination with other deal team members.
  • As directed by the Deal Team Leader and in conjunction with other members of the deal team, take responsibility for supporting the execution of relevant mandates.
  • Provide guidance and coaching for new and junior colleagues in the team (in particular, graduates on rotation)
  • Maintain and enhance good working relationships with stakeholders, across the region and globally to share best practices, provide support and develop effective local policies and procedures appropriate to the Company, and working in support of the One MUFG and overall Group strategy
  • Meet excellent standards with respect to operational management, communication, governance and compliance with all internal and external regulations, guidelines, standards and procedures

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • The ideal candidate will have at least 2yrs experience in a relevant role (e.g. Acquisition Finance, Leveraged Finance, Credit Rating Agency or M&A advisory)

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Functional / Technical Competencies:

Essential

  • Accounting and corporate finance knowledge
  • Credit analysis and cashflow modelling
  • Experience creating clear, structured and compelling pitch materials
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills

Preferred:

  • Competency in another European language

Education / Qualifications:

Essential

  • Degree level educated, or relevant industry experience

Preferred:

  • Relevant Professional qualification (e.g. CFA)
