Translational Research Scientific Liaison

At the GSK site in Heidelberg, Germany, we are looking for a Translational Research Scientific Liaison. The site fully integrated into GSK's Research and Development (R&D) and located on the campus of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL). This diverse and stimulating environment offers a unique blend of backgrounds and expertise, fostering innovative and impactful research.

Position summary:

The Translational Research Scientific Liaison will act as a trusted scientific expert bridging GSK R&D and the medical research community in Germany and Europe. You will identify, establish and lead strategic relationships with clinical and academic Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to accelerate the discovery and development of transformational new medicines. This role offers growth, visible impact and the chance to help unite science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together.

Key responsibilities:

  • Identify, established, and lead collaborations with European research Institutes, Clinical Centers, and disease experts/KOLs (clinical trials are out of scope).
  • Build strong, evidence-based business cases that align external opportunities with GSK R&D strategy and portfolio objectives.
  • Deliver clear, data-driven scientific presentations and educational exchanges for diverse internal and external audiences.
  • Generate and communicate actionable insights from potential and existing collaborations to influence portfolio decisions.
  • Provide strategic guidance to Business Development on emerging external scientific and translational opportunities.
  • Represent the company at medical conferences, organize symposia, and support scientific advisory boards and other engagement forums.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company policies during all external interactions.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Advanced scientific degree (PhD, PharmD, MD).
  • Deep experience with Human Biological Samples Management
  • Deep subject-matter expertise in relevant therapeutic area(s) and strong understanding of clinical research processes.
  • Deep understanding of omics technologies and applications to drug discovery
  • Familiarity with exploratory biomarkers.
  • Familiarity of data management approaches.
  • Demonstrated track record of scientific collaborations and in-depth knowledge of disease biology.
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, and public-speaking skills with the ability to tailor complex data to diverse audiences.
  • Strong strategic thinking, independent working capability, and proficiency in analyzing scientific literature and evidence.
  • Outstanding organization and communication skills to manage the complex stakeholder landscape within GSK departments and external institutions
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence senior stakeholders and executives.
  • Excellent executive-level communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience producing high-quality scientific reports and presentations.
  • Global mindset with the ability to operate across geographies.
  • Effective time- and project-management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities, lead cross-functional efforts, and drive decisions.

Working model:
Office based position in the GSK R&D site in Heidelberg, Germany.
