JOB MISSION:        

New Balance’s Field of Play team is responsible for global footwear product creation across a variety of sports.  You will assist with supporting the product management process to create best in class footwear for athletes while aligning to bigger picture brand stories.  The ideal person will have a passion for understanding consumer wants, needs, and desires, with the ability to translate that into creating product that helps athletes excel on field.  The ideal candidate will have a interest in footwear product creation, a knowledge of sport, and a proven track record of being a great teammate.

At the conclusion of this internship this individual will have a solid understanding of New Balance footwear product creation and business and have gained valuable work experience, new skills, and connections, as well as industry experience and confidence.  The intern will be required to share their summer experience with a brief presentation at the conclusion of the internship. 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Complete a review of competitive brands and provide insights into competitive line plan strategy
• Research and provide insight into the future trends of influencers in sport.
• Identify recent trends with brands and how athletes show up on-field
• Provide reporting and operations support as needed
• Work cross-functionally with the product creation team by prioritizing workload and working as a team to accomplish time sensitive projects. 
• Participate in team meetings, project updates and focus groups
• Familiarize with New Balance footwear and be able to discuss key benefits and features of key items - compared to other brands. 

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

• Passion for product, sport and consumers, understanding the needs of athletes across all competitive levels
• Strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills  
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and manage time, multiple tasks, and deadlines  
• Robust interpersonal skills with an emphasis on problem solving and dealing with multiple customers and various priorities. 
• Hybrid work – 3 days at Brighton HQ; 2 days remotely. 
• Some lifting required with product boxes.  
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel 
• Basic skills with Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Teams.  
   

Boston, MA Headquarters - (NB) Only Pay Range: $20.00 - $20.00 - $20.00 Hourly (actual base pay varying based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, internal equity, geographic location, and more.)

Flexible Work Schedule

For decades we have fostered a unique culture founded on our values with a particular focus on in-person teamwork and collaboration. Our North American hybrid model encourages rich in-person experiences, showcasing our commitment to teamwork and connection, while maintaining flexibility for associates. New Balance Associates currently work in office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Our offices are fully open, and amenities are available across our North American office locations. To continue our focus on hybrid work we have introduced “Work from Anywhere” (WFA) for four weeks per calendar year. This model will help us enhance our culture while continuing to maintain elements of flexibility.
