This is an exciting role for a seasoned Commercial leader to join us and own the strategic direction and execution of business strategy around our Joint Replacement (JR), MAKO, Trauma & Extremities direct business in Malaysia to meet growth targets while delivering exceptional service for our customers.

 

This role will be a key member of the Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia leadership team and also serve as the country statutory leader for Malaysia.

Commercial leadership accountability

  • Accountable for the overall P&L of the JR/Mako/Trauma & Extremities business in Malaysia, with responsibility to deliver franchise top and bottom line results and long term growth objectives.
  • Oversee the development of the country and direct business franchise plans to achieve short, medium and long term business strategies.
  • Drives efficiency and profitability independently or cross-functionally through budget management, forecasting, inventory management, CER etc. 
  • Build and maintain a network of cooperative relationships with business partners and key customers for business growth.
  • Management of third party agents & go-to-market model.
  • Drives collaboration with cross-functional leaders to improve efficiency on operational executions/initiatives ; e.g. bumi agent selection, 4PL management, margin negotiation, CAPA, etc.
  • Maintain awareness of both the internal and external competitive landscape, opportunities for growth, customers, markets, new industry developments & standards, and flow such knowledge to regional leadership for strategic development of the business.

Country leadership accountability

  • Responsible for overall engagement of employees in Malaysia and management of facilities.
  • Represent the Company to the appropriate Government industry bodies and serve on special committees as required to enhance the Company’s corporate image.

People leadership accountability

  • Develop and appropriately organize leadership and commercial team succession plans to best deploy and develop talent to achieve organizational goals.
  • Effectively develop, mentor, and coach sales and commercial leaders to enhance their capability and competence.
  • Build and lead cross-department cooperation and efficiency.
  • Ensure establishment of clear guidelines on commercial and sales roles, responsibilities and business processes.
  • Uphold the Compliance Culture and philosophy of the Company by ensuring the business is kept abreast and aligned to the highest code of ethics.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Business/Science/Engineering or related fields.
  • At least 12 years of Commercial / Sales experience in Healthcare / MedTech / Medical Device industry, with increasing scope of responsibility.
  • Proven track record of leading successful Sales teams (15 headcounts and above).
  • Experience gained in high growth MNCs preferred.
  • Prior experience in Orthopedic products would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator.
  • Proven track record of driving performance through cross functional teams with strong commercial acumen.

Travel Percentage: 40%
