ROLE SUMMARY

The Head of Early Development PTLs manages the portfolio from pre-clinical candidate nomination to Phase 1-2 Proof of Concept. In close collaboration with research and development leaders, they influence portfolio prioritization and strategy, manage operations and risks, and ensure cross-functional alignment and decision making that progresses the portfolio. The role directly manages a group of early development PTLs who lead cross functional teams to deliver an integrated strategy and development plan, mitigate risks, and achieve milestones with speed and quality. This position is within Pfizer Oncology Division and reports to the Head of PT&PPM.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coach and mentor PTLs leading early development cross-functional Global Product Teams
  • Partner closely with the development head and other cross-functional line leaders to develop and drive an integrated portfolio prioritization and operations plan
  • Ensure strategic alignment and seamless execution across molecule teams
  • Ensure delivery of key portfolio milestones and governance decisions
  • Manage portfolio clinical trial budgets and operational expenses within guideposts
  • Ensure clear and effective portfolio communications
  • Collaborate with partners on co-development programs and serve on steering committees 
  • Drive portfolio objective setting and prioritization and serve on governance committees
  • Manage portfolio risk, issue resolution, and contingency planning
  • Foster a positive team environment with transparent communication
  • Advance functional and organizational excellence in PT&PPM department

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience
  • Advanced degree (Ph.D., Pharm D, MD, or equivalent) in biomedical sciences
  • Deep technical expertise in oncology small molecule, ADC, or biologics drug discovery
  • Experience leading pre-IND and early development stage product teams
  • Proactive and strategic thinker with strong data-driven decision-making skills
  • Strong leadership reputation and highly effective communication skills
  • Experience in significant staff management and operations with ability to focus and motivate teams
  • Highly collaborative with outstanding cross-functional relationship building skills

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

The position will attend certain scientific/medical congresses and meetings in person throughout the year (estimate 5-6 meetings annually).

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $226,200.00 to $377,000.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
