Product management at hyperexponential

Our Technology department is a melting pot of some of the brightest (and kindest!) engineers and product managers in the industry.

The level of complexity of hx Renew requires a highly technical, true engineering mindset so an output of this is a deeply creative, innovative environment where we push the technological boundaries of what’s possible.

You will report to the Product Lead, and work closely with a product engineering team. We always have more hard product problems than we have time to solve so this is a position with plenty of growth opportunity as we continue to expand!

Your mission

We need a technically-minded Product Manager to take ownership for a new domain, managing the experience actuaries provide to underwriters though their model building activities in our core product, hx Renew.

That means some really interesting challenges that will require strong platform thinking. You’ll need to balance creating components, which are easy for actuaries developing on our platform to work with, but which provide a high-quality experience for underwriters!

You will have ownership of the strategy in this space and you will get to make your mark and establish a best-in class model experience.

Key Responsibilities

Note: hx is still a relatively early-stage business, and our culture prizes initiative highly - as such this section is a good indicator of your role, but the list isn’t exhaustive.

  • Understand and represent our users’ needs - creating personas and mapping user journeys to our flagship product, hx Renew.

  • Understand problems and opportunities through data, user research, competitor analysis running experiments, and interactions with the business.

  • Deliver against a wider product vision, strategy and roadmap - executing with a dedicated cross-functional end-to-end product team.

  • Plan how best to approach delivering maximum impact both within a sprint and over the longer term using the resources available.

  • Co-ordinate across customers and hyperexponential to deliver from idea to implementation to launch - communicating the value to our users throughout the process

  • Create and manage your backlog, balancing strategic, customer, and internal work.

  • Work iteratively, using data to assess and refine your decisions.

  • Work collaboratively, leveraging your skills and the skills across the wider team to design solutions that solve tough technical challenges.

Experience and Skills

hx is far less interested in counting years over evidence of delivery, and our requirements reflect this.

The right person for this role will need:

  • Proven experience working as a Product Manager with a track record of successful product delivery in technical products (ideally at a fast-scaling B2B SaaS company).

  • Demonstrable examples of working closely with engineering and design functions to build out composable experiences for users with complex interactions.

  • Demonstrable experience working with a technical team with a highly technical product or service within its core responsibilities.

  • A highly collaborative way of working with a heavy emphasis on teamwork and leading through influence; you empower teams to deliver the best solutions to problems and opportunities.

  • A self-starting attitude: you enjoy managing your own time and work, within a high trust and high accountability, but high-support environment. You proactively drive your own personal development and stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and challenges.

  • Past experience building low-code/no-code solutions would be considered favourably.

  • Past experience in a front-end engineering role would be considered favourably as well.

Bonus points for:

  • Community contributions through meet-up/conference talks, blogs or open-source Insurtech or fintech experience.
