Job Summary:

The Vice President of Transportation is responsible for the LTL strategy, sales, carrier and client management, and pricing teams. This team's goal is to serve customers within its target markets or lines of business, foster top-line revenue growth, earn an acceptable rate of return on sales, grow and maintain strategic carrier partners, maintain growth targets and profitability, and develop and grow our employees.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for management of the team and/or support groups.
  • Initiate growth-focused activities to realize and capture market potential.
  • Foster positive customer relations to retain and grow current business.
  • Hire, train and develop staff to meet business segment objectives.
  • Ensure budget and profit margins meet and exceed company goals.
  • Work with and guide the LTL management team in preparing weekly, monthly, and annual plans to ensure each employee understands their goals in relation to the strategic objectives of the company.
  • Properly manage risk and maintain financial integrity in all business matters.
  • Ensure daily compliance to all local, state, and federal (DOT) laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university; and ten + years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least fifteen + years' LTL brokerage leadership.
  • Recognized industry expert.
  • Ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing, and achieving objectives.
  • Ability to form and manage effective teams.
  • Excellent analysis skills.
  • Prior profit and loss responsibility.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to travel 25-50%

Compensation:

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.  This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
