What is the opportunity?

In this role you will assist the Director, Credit Risk Management (Wholesale) in actively promoting an Enterprise Risk Management Culture and directly a Credit Risk Management mindset across RBC Caribbean. You will be responsible for maintaining a very high quality, prime wholesale credit portfolio through proactive application and management of Credit Policy, adjudication, exception request consideration and 2nd line of defense validation and testing and also promoting operational excellence with a strict focus on identifying and managing Credit Risk.

What will you do?

  • Decision applications that are assigned daily as per documented SLA, ensuring credit decisions are appropriate, within defined risk appetite, and exception levels are reasonable and fully supported
  • Record on Credit Tracking System, applications Decisioned daily
  • Provide support to the Director, Credit Risk Management Wholesale and Head, Credit RBC Caribbean Banking
  • Participate in projects, task forces, committees, special assignments
  • Adhere to RBC Compliance requirements (Code of Conduct, Customer and Employee Privacy Codes, local Regulatory requirements) and ensure client information, both electronic and paper based is kept confidential and always protected
  • Pursue a Personal Development Plan designed to achieve career objectives.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, mathematics, statistics, finance, economics or other related fields
  • 10+ years progressive growth and experience in financial services; Wholesale Banking, product development and credit risk management
  • 5+ years of experience in Credit Risk Management and ability to provide focus and clarity in establishing individual goals, driving performance management, supporting career development and rewarding strong performance for a group
  • Extensive knowledge of Risk Management Principles, Credit Adjudication (Wholesale Banking), Operational Excellence, Quality Control and the balance sheet
  • Analytical mindset, strong problem-solving skills and a financial acumen
  • Extensive experience in risk policy, bank operations, analytics and economic factors that may impact risk levels of the Bank and/or given strategies
  • Proven business management skills with strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal, verbal and written skills
  • Thorough understanding of the overall regulatory framework
  • Proven problem solving, negotiation and project management skill

Working Conditions

  • This is anticipated to be a hybrid work environment (office and work from home capabilities) and requires significant leadership ability and mental effort
  • Travel may be required on occasion.
