Chapter Lead -  Product Security Engineering

Your Business: 

Cyber Security protects the bank and our customers from theft, loss, and risk events, through effective and proactive management of cyber security, privacy, and operational risk.  

 

Your new team:  

Your team will manage multi discipline SME’s in providing product security engineering support for a key business domain in the CBA Group

This role will collaborate closely with various teams, including development, operations, and product strategy, to ensure that security is integrated into every stage of the product lifecycle.

This role will manage a medium team of Engineers, and/or Engineering managers ensuring optimal goal setting, performance, career development and engagement. Advocate the embedding of a positive engineering culture. Ensure adherence to standards and technical quality. You will guide complex technical problem solving and be a trusted security partner to your aligned business unit.

 

 You will also:  

• Attract, develop and motivate engineering talent.
• Build, lead and inspire an engaged team of Engineers.
• Communicate Engineering Practice standards and consistent ways of working across the domain and CBA that align to industry standards.
• Empower team to manage their work appropriately, respond to queries, address impediments and problem solve technical issues.
• Facilitate proactive dialogue with senior management and key stakeholders to remove blockers and ensure clear path to execution.
• Leverage excellent level of technical domain knowledge relevant to Chapter Area (e.g. Software Engineering).
• Provide effective coaching to Engineers and establishes mechanisms for peer to peer learning and mentoring.
• Role model a culture of engineering empowerment, autonomy, psychological safety and constructive challenge.
• Support team to allocate time for code review, refactoring and tech debt elimination over feature delivery.
• Takes time to understand unique skill sets of team members, providing personalised feedback and guidance.
• Understand the value of and enable the growth of diverse teams.

We are interested in people who are: 

• Having leadership experience building, mentoring, and inspiring high-performing engineering teams
• Strong experience in one cyber domain  (security architecture, design, application security, penetration testing )
• Deep technical expertise in security engineering
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of aligning engineering practices to business goals and removing delivery blockers.
• Commitment to engineering excellence, including code quality, refactoring, tech debt reduction, and fostering a culture of peer learning and knowledge sharing.
