The Metroplex Energy Commercial Intern is responsible for supporting the Commercial Team as they ensure the efficient delivery of fuel to RaceTrac and RaceWay stores. This role will collaborate internally to identify, define, and resolve a variety of complex business problems and to support various corporate initiatives. The Intern will support commercial activities at Metroplex Energy, being exposed to the following departments along the fuel acquisition supply chain; Commercial Supply, Transportation, Scheduling, Trading, Transportation, Marketing, Risk, Credit & Accounting. This individual will impact daily decisions by analyzing, evaluating, negotiating, and managing fuel freight deliveries. Potential duties and responsibilities are detailed below.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts analysis using various pricing & freight mechanisms for both short- and long-term supply contracts.
- Analyzes supply sources and arbitrages by reviewing logistical costs between storage terminals and upstream supply sources to optimize the supply mix.
- Evaluates various bulk delivery options to ensure downstream supply demands are met in a cost-effective manner.
- Manages, maintains, and reconciles customer liftings to ensure contract adherence.
- Supports daily operations by assisting Supply Managers and Analysts with various activities.
- Creates visual aids and reporting tools using Microsoft Office Programs, specifically Power Bi.
- Assists in Contract Management, supporting efforts to document, summarize and notify business partners.
- Collaborates with schedulers and transportation analysts both internally and externally.
- Serves as first point of contact for communication and problem solving with truck dispatchers.
- Analyzes freight costs between storage terminals and stores by carriers.
- Works with Commercial Supply team to ensure drivers are delivering loads from appropriate vendor’s terminals.
- Assists in managing, scheduling and analyzing blend events at various bulk storage locations.
- Collaborates with product inspectors to ensure that products meet necessary requirements and standards.
- Summarizes and maintains Customer Relationship Management intelligence for the Commercial Team.

Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in a college or university with a major that aligns with the department
- Knowledge of Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, Office)
- Preferred GPA 3.0 or higher
- Previous internship experience preferred
