Job Summary:

Telehealth is defined as the delivery and facilitation of health and health-related services including medical care, provider and patient education, and health information services via telecommunications and digital communication technologies. This position provides leadership and oversight to the coordination, management, and evaluation activities and resources for a diverse portfolio of telehealth projects. This includes establishing and implementing project management processes to ensure project requirements are delivered effectively, within budget, in compliance with established standards and project specifications, and within the specified timeframe. The ideal Telehealth Project Manager II enjoys balancing multiple concurrent projects of varying complexity and is skilled in working with and leading cross-functional teams consisting of clinical, technical, operations, revenue cycle, and other functional stakeholders both within and outside of UMMC.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business, information systems, or applicable job-related field and four (4) years of project management or telehealth related experience, or equivalent combination of project manager or telehealth related education/experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of clinical revenue cycle concepts as they relate to telehealth workflow design. Current understanding of regulatory policies as related to telehealth. Interpersonal skills to interact with a wide range of constituencies. Ability to present information and respond to inquiries. Ability to clarify project objectives, goals, and the roles and responsibilities of participants. Ability to organize and manage resources. Ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, administration, and management of telehealth projects of varying complexity.
  • Leads and directs the work of others.
  • Anticipates and identifies tasks required to support change processing including performing change impact analysis, assigning tasks to project team members, verbally communicating complex issues, verifying that tasks are completed, and communicating implementation status.
  • Documents and understands what the technical environment dependencies are for each project to support an end-to-end integrated environment.
  • Accountable for tracking and managing the creation of functional designs; identifies risks and benefits of alternate designs; calculates costs/benefits of potential actions or solutions to establish their viability/ROI; assesses project impact of system changes on users and internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • Establishes and implements project management processes and methodologies to ensure telehealth projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high-quality standards, and meet customer expectations.
  • Translates project requirements into project objectives and tasks.
  • Manages the life cycle of telehealth projects, including coordinating initial discussions with project stakeholders, conducting a feasibility assessment, developing training on clinical workflows, overseeing purchasing and delivery of telehealth equipment, testing workflows, implementing workflows, monitoring results through identification of key performance indicators, and ongoing project design and refinements to maximize and sustain operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
  • Develops detailed project plans that include project schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports; tracks key project milestones and adjusts project plans and/or resources to meet needs of customers; considers time, cost, scope, quality, communications, risk, human resources, procurement and integration factors in plan development.
  • Ensures successful execution of any contractual or licensing agreements, credentialing and privileging of providers, and other regulatory or compliance requirements.
  • Coordinates project efforts that integrate and utilize software, hardware and services components.
  • Reports on project progress throughout the project lifecycle or specific phases within the Solutions Delivery Life cycle (SDLC).
  • Collaborates in the day-to-day management of the operational aspects of the project, including coordinating the resources necessary to successfully complete the project.
  • Communicates major milestones and identifies potential project risks; conducts regular status meetings to review project activities; manages prioritization procedures.
  • Sets and manages client expectations, managing and escalating issues and changes.
  • Measures progress toward goals and revises project objectives; documents applying change control procedures
  • Develops methods to measure customer satisfaction; obtains feedback at critical milestones and at project completion to ensure that project efforts meeting customer expectations for time, cost, and results.
  • Builds relationships with key stakeholders and project resources to drive key decisions and ensure timely project completion.
