Position Summary:   
The Operations Firewall Engineer - Level 3 is a senior role responsible for the design, implementation, and management of complex firewall architectures across Check Point, Cisco Firepower, and Cisco ASA environments. This role involves leading security projects, developing strategic security initiatives, and providing expert-level troubleshooting and guidance to ensure the highest levels of network security.

Key Responsibilities:

Firewall Architecture and Design for Operations:

  • Design and implement advanced firewall architectures to secure enterprise networks, integrating Check Point, Cisco Firepower, and Cisco ASA technologies.
  • Develop and maintain a robust firewall strategy that aligns with organizational goals and industry best practices.

Strategic Security Leadership:

  • Lead the development and execution of network security strategies, including the selection and deployment of firewall solutions.
  • Collaborate with senior management and other stakeholders to ensure that firewall operations support the overall security strategy of the organization.


Firewall Policy and Rule Management:

  • Develop, review, and enforce security policies and rules across firewall platforms, ensuring optimal balance between security and network performance.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of firewall configurations, making necessary adjustments to address evolving threats and compliance requirements.

Security Project Management:

  • Lead and manage complex security projects, including firewall migrations, upgrades, and the deployment of new security technologies.
  • Work with project management teams to ensure that firewall-related projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.

Integration with Other Security Tools:

  • Integrate firewalls with other security tools such as SIEM systems, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection solutions to create a cohesive security environment.
  • Develop and implement automation strategies to streamline firewall management and reduce the potential for human error.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure that firewall configurations and operations comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards.
  • Perform risk assessments related to firewall operations and provide recommendations for mitigating identified risks.

Reporting and Analytics:

  • Develop and present detailed reports and dashboards on firewall performance, security incidents, and compliance status to executive leadership.
  • Analyze firewall logs and security events to identify trends, emerging threats, and opportunities for improvement.

Required qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in network security
  • Experience in managing and architecting firewall solutions using Check Point, Cisco Firepower, and Cisco ASA.

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Experience in complex and critical firewall-related issues, providing troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Lead and coordinate response efforts to major security incidents, working closely with other IT and security teams.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience).

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$83,430.00 - $166,860.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
