Job Description:

Job Title: IT Engineering Manager – Store Web Modernization

About TJX:

TJX is a Fortune 100 global retailer where technology powers millions of daily transactions across thousands of stores. At TJX India in Hyderabad, you will join a high‑impact engineering hub modernizing mission‑critical systems into a secure, resilient, Azure‑native ecosystem. We foster a culture rooted in engineering excellence, autonomy, and enterprise‑level influence.

What you will discover

  • A leadership culture that values clarity, accountability, and technical depth

  • A global technology organization collaborating across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia

  • Opportunities to lead one of TJX’s most strategic modernization initiatives

  • A high‑trust, high‑performance environment where engineering leaders shape enterprise direction

Our Organization:

As the Senior IT Engineering Manager – StoreWeb Modernization, you will lead engineering execution for one of TJX’s most transformative programs. You will build and lead a high‑performing engineering team in India, define the modernization roadmap, and ensure the safe evolution of legacy StoreWeb systems into cloud‑native, API‑driven, observable, resilient services. You are both a people leader and a hands‑on technical influencer—your decisions will shape modernization velocity, engineering standards, and cross‑team execution.

What you will do

  • Own the modernization roadmap—defining scope, milestones, risks, sequencing, and cross‑team dependencies.

  • Lead modernization governance including steering committees, OKR tracking, and executive‑ready status reporting.

  • Build, coach, and retain an 8–12 person high‑performing engineering team; be a talent magnet and culture setter.

  • Establish and enforce engineering excellence: Definition of Done, secure coding, review rigor, CI/CD quality gates, IaC standards.

  • Drive operational reliability through staged rollouts, feature flags, rollback readiness, incident preparedness, and post‑mortems.

  • Coordinate modernization work across architecture, security, networking, store operations, and platform engineering.

  • Demonstrate hands‑on technical leadership—diving into code, pipelines, IaC, and distributed troubleshooting to unblock teams.

  • Create a culture of extreme ownership: accountable for outcomes, not activity; urgency paired with production safety.

  • Provide crisp communication tailored for executives and engineers, ensuring alignment and acceleration.

  • Shape organizational modernization strategy by introducing patterns, governance, and delivery frameworks adopted across teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 12-16 years with 5+ people management experience

  • Hands‑on leadership of cloud modernization (Azure preferred) and incremental migration programs.

  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps CI/CD, App Insights/Log Analytics, IaC (Bicep/Terraform), and modern engineering practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex modernization initiatives with cross‑team dependencies and aggressive timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with retail/store systems or offline‑capable workflows.

  • Background with SLOs, error budgets, incident management, and on‑call leadership.

  • Experience with APIM, OpenTelemetry, secure enterprise delivery patterns, and high‑reliability systems.
