Job Summary
The Medical Lab Assistant, Pathology is responsible for obtaining and processing pathology specimens while maintaining positive specimen identification. Assists Pathologists, Pathology Assistants, Histotechnologist/ technicians and Cytotechnologist with specimen preparation during routine processing and intraoperative consultations. Maintains a clean and safe work environment to ensure efficient workflow and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Communicates clearly and professionally with nurses, OR staff, Doctors, co-workers, and other personnel to obtain information for laboratory records, procedures, material requests, and other inquiries. May assist Pathologist/PA with opening, evisceration, and closing during autopsy procedures with appropriate competency training and within established parameters.Pay Range
Minimum $20.53 Midpoint $27.19 Maximum $33.86Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
Experience
• Required: Minimum one (1) year of Pathology Lab experience.
• Preferred: Two (2) years of Pathology lab experience.
Education
• Required: High School Diploma/GED and two (2) years of relevant work experience in the laboratory.
• Preferred: Associate of Science degree.
Training
• Required: None required.
Specialized Skills
• Required: Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, detail oriented, excellent customer service skills, and ability to remain focused in stressful situations. Be flexible, demonstrate teamwork, initiative, and willingness to learn. Must have strong mental and visual concentration. Good hand/eye coordination. Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on communication.
