We are looking for an Manufacturing Engineer (Equipment Maintenance Engineer) Senior Staff, to join our team in Costa Rica.

The maintenance engineer must control and fill out official documentation regarding the department function and support the new products and process introduction into the plant. It is required to manage properly the regulatory documentation and follow them without exception. This person needs to be a model for the rest of the people about to follow procedures and improve them.
Analyze and design automated processes for products, works cross-functionally with different teams designing, automating, and executing strategies for application features. works closely with manufacturing to understand work priorities and assign them to production maintenance Technicians, while providing good customer service. Provides and develops solutions to problems of limited
scope. Must be able to accomplish broad and complex assignments. May provide technical guidance to lower level personnel using RCA tools.
Develop people, to unite our maintenance/calibration technicians working in the catheters area on three shifts, under one organization and transform the way we manage our day to day activities using the Lean principles of Total Productive Maintenance.
Full owner of the calibration and preventive maintenance program and responsible for obeying the Confluent maintenance and calibration procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Owner of Maintenance key performance indicators (KPIs), its goals, strategies and action plans, like downtime; backlog; MTBF; MTTR; OEE; PMP.

  • Provides and develops solutions to problems of limited scope. Must be able to accomplish broad and complex assignments. May provide technical guidance to lower level personnel.

  • Provides immediate supervision to maintenance/calibration techs, assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals, and maintaining schedules.

  • Responsible for production maintenance, making real time decisions to ensure efficient, reliable and uninterrupted plant operations. Supervise troubleshooting, dismantling, repairing, relocating, modifying, maintaining, aligning, overhauling, and installing of fixed and semi-fixed production machinery and equipment.

  • Coordinate work efforts with external contractors and vendors to solve plant operation issues related to production machinery and equipment, and support vendor negotiations, including purchasing of spare parts, equipment and service contracts.

  • Team Work with other support areas like manufacturing engineering, able to dig deep for root cause, analyze objectively, draw logical conclusions and follow through quickly to deliver solutions.

  • Passionate people with a positive mental attitude who can interact with ease within and outside our team to develop and deliver win-win solutions.  Our daily work includes both sustaining and project work – we strive to complete the types of projects that eliminate unplanned equipment downtime.

  • Ensure that equipment is repaired and maintained in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and/or manufacturer’s specification and according to the last validation.

  • Supervises both scheduled and unplanned work on a wide variety of equipment and systems, including preventative maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance work.

  • Supports implementation of upgrades and new engineering/maintenance projects.

  • Takes the necessary actions to ensure equipment and/or environment is safe and consistent with relevant laws, codes and/or governing policies.

  • Practice company safety, quality policies and procedures, actively requires conformance.

  • Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.

  • Responsible for the purchase or design of equipment that meets health, safety and environmental standards set by the company.

  • Responsible for performing design reviews and pre-validation assessments to ensure the safe and environmentally sound start-up of new processes, and owner of IQ protocols.

  • Responsible for sending different reports requested by the Confluent customers.

  • Works as a team with operations and quality to make sure the preventive maintenance and calibration program is executed timely.

  • Controlling maintenance tools, stores and equipment.

  • Monitoring and controlling maintenance costs.

  • Additional functions may be to manage some contractors and consultants. This position needs to have the capacity to lead projects and implement them.

  • Plans, schedules, control, evaluate and improved corrective and preventive maintenance task in order to have a high reliability of the equipment operation according with regulations.

  • Analyzes job requirements; and determining materials, equipment, and labor needs (such as blueprints, tools, parts, and craft workers’ skill requirements) in order to complete maintenance economically and efficiently.

  • He or she has the responsibility of removing nonproductive time from the maintenance work force; ensuring maintenance work is ready to be performed.

  • Responsible to lead the spare parts definition, inventory and coordinate that in the plant there are the necessary quantity of them.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Maintenance Engineering, or related field preferred.

  • 5 - 6 years’ experience in manufacturing with maintenance and/or facility experience.

  • Experience in the medical device industry would be an asset.

  • Advance english level.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Must have availability and flexibility to work out of schedule in case of emergencies.

  • Must possess more than a basic understanding of engineering theoretical fundamentals and experimental techniques. Individuals at this level should be developing skills related to conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and difficult coordination requirements.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form, and analysis of KPIs Trend.
