As a Data/Solution Engineer within the IT organization, you will help build data solutions, services, and tools to grow our business, democratize data, enable, and support business teams with the use of data and technology.

The Europe and Asia Client Group (EACG) Technology team manages in-house and vendor products. As a Data/Solution Engineer, you will be collaborating closely with our clients and developing data solutions to enable them gather insights they require and make better data driven decisions. The ideal candidate for this role will be enthusiastic about our goal, driving growth in EACG through the application of modern products and services underpinned by a strong data foundation. Based in our Tokyo office, you will have frequent interactions with Sales, Marketing, and Investment Operations teams. Your key focus would be to support our business operations in Tokyo, but you will have opportunities to build data solutions for Europe and Asia client groups across different business areas.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the design and implementation of data and analytics products of medium to high complexity.
  • Write, maintain, and improve code, data quality, data processing pipelines, and various data access patterns to enable both technical and non-technical users to leverage data.
  • Design, build, and maintain end-to-end data processing pipelines, including ingestion, data modeling, and curation.
  • Perform code quality assurance activities and testing of both functional and non-functional aspects.
  • Engage with supporting teams such as Cloud, Security, and Architecture to design, build, and support data platforms.
  • Integrate with the business and leverage technology solutions to amplify capabilities.
  • Actively engage with stakeholders to develop a detailed understanding of their requirements.
  • Partner with business domain leaders to understand and apply broad knowledge of business strategies / challenges, translating them into high-class technical design solutions.
  • Provide technical recommendations on projects and incorporate best practices.
  • Ensure the quality and supportability of the resulting solution.
  • Mentor junior associates and provide feedback on their work

We're looking for someone with backgrounc/qualifications:

  • Background in data engineering and analytics, with a passion to learn
  • Data-driven problem-solving skills to address business challenges and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (preferred) or a related technical field
  • Fluent in both Japanese & English
  • At least 6-8 years of working experience in SQL, ETL tools (e.g., PowerCenter), Tableau, Alteryx, SSRS, PowerBI, AWS, Azure, Databricks, ReactJS, Angular, Rest API Services, Python. Cloud Certifications preferred
  • Comfortable with multi-tasking and working as part of a global team, as well as independently
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data strategy and related business areas
  • Ability to provide technical direction, guidance, and oversight of vendor solutions and integrations

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
