Internship as Junior Design Engineer in "Upper Stages Design & Layout"

We are looking for an intern for the department "Upper Stages Design & Layout" from 01.02.2025 who would like to support us for 6 months.

Tasks:

For internships we can offer a high variety of different tasks. We offer local design improvements to improve the ULPM in its currently starting exploitation phase, as well as concept studies for architectural improvements of next increments for Ariane 6 Upper Stage. Your activities will include:

  • General and detailed 3D design activities taking into account:

    • Design and manufacturing requirements and processes.

    • Functional requirements (e.g. segregation rules for the electrical system, pressure, temperature, max. pressure drop)

    • Mechanical requirements (frequency and stress)

    • Integration sequence and accessibility

  • Establishment and update of 3D models and assemblies in CATIA V5/ Teamcenter

  • Elaboration and update of 2D documentation, ready for manufacturing.

  • Elaboration of bills of material and release of associated data packages in link with SAP

  • Implementation and documentation of changes acc. to configuration management process

The work must be performed in close coordination with the engineering teams such as design and layout, structure mechanic/dynamic, thermal, propulsion, Avionics and stage system engineering in Bremen. This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company's success, reputation and sustainable growth.

Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Student for Bachelor/Master in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or comparable education

  • First practical experience in CATIA V5 or other CAD tools

  • Good imagination in 3D and interest in manufacturing processes

  • Ability to work in a highly disciplined and structured manner

  • Fluency in English or German, knowledge in French would be beneficial

About the location:

Bremen
This site, located on the outskirts of the Hanseatic city of Bremen in north-west Germany,
has specialised in the development and manufacture of the upper stage of the Ariane
launchers since the start of the programme. Its experts are responsible for the design,
development and final integration of the Ariane 6 upper stage. They are also developing
the Astris Kick Stage, an additional upper stage powered by the future reignitable bi-
propellant engine called Berta, which will further enhance Ariane 6’s versatility. The
Bremen site also produces metal tanks for the orbital propulsion systems.
