Job Description Summary:

The University of Kansas Medical Center School of Nursing invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA). This part-time, temporary student position offers the opportunity to work alongside innovative faculty, staff, and students to provide educational support in the classroom and testing environments.

Job Description:

The GTA role supports the educational mission of the School of Nursing by assisting faculty in delivering high-quality educational experiences. Applicants will be considered as part of a candidate pool, with assignments offered based on programmatic needs each semester. Please note that applying to this posting does not guarantee an immediate position, as availability depends on the current needs of the program. Candidates are encouraged to reapply to the pool each semester.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serve as professional role models to students.

  • Facilitate student learning in the classroom and testing environments.

  • Assist with educational tasks according to their expertise and program needs.

  • Maintain strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Respond promptly to requests and complete assigned duties in a timely manner.

  • Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.

Required Qualifications

  • Enrollment as a student in a KU School of Nursing Graduate program (minimum 6 credit hours)

  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of Kansas or a multi-state

  • RN license issued by another Nurse Licensure Compact state. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting.

  • 1-2 years of experience as a nursing preceptor or a graduate assistant in an undergraduate program.

  • Completion of 1-2 years of graduate-level coursework.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above. 

Pay Range:

$74,800.00 - $84,800.00
