Overview:

The Principal Software Engineer- SRE is a key position focused on enhancing the performance and scalability of a cloud-based SaaS platform. This role demands strong problem-solving skills, expertise in scripting and compiled languages, and an understanding of cloud-scale technologies. 

Responsibilities:

  • As a Principal Software Engineer- SRE you'll play a very important role in our products' success

  • You will also drive projects to integrate benchmarking into our continuous integration and test automation frameworks

  • Design and implement solutions to evaluate and improve performance and scalability of SaaS Platform 

  • Architect solutions for microservices to do self service performance and scalability evaluation

  • Root cause performance and scalability issues and contribute to product code to alleviate these issues

  • Optimize sizing of deployed component instances for cost optimization

  • Support extended teams in troubleshooting problems, such as system malfunctions

  • Provide feedback, propose solutions and suggest improvements in the product

  • You will partner with SRE and developers to develop best practices, author blogs and white papers 

  • You will present internally and at conferences.


 

Qualifications

  • 7-9 years of proven experience in software engineering, focusing on performance and scale. 

  • 7+ years of experience with systems engineering and software development

  • Deep understanding and hands on with AWS cloud architecture

  • Proven expertise in solving OS level and database performance optimization

  • Excellent understanding of CI/CD systems and experience with improving build and release processes.

  • Understanding of cloud-scale, serverless and micro services architecture.

  • Experience resolving both higher level (system architecture) and lower level performance problems

  • Excellent communication with ability to lead discussions.

  • Excellent solving skills and great attention to detail

  • Experience supporting an enterprise-level SaaS environment

  • Ability to find root cause of performance bottlenecks

  • Experience in solving problems of load, scale, and optimizations of sophisticated large-scale deployments

  • Experience with Linux profiling tools like perf, bcc, etc.

  • Expert in scripting languages (Python) and compiled languages (Java, GO)

  • Expert in distributed computing system and stack

  • Comfortable with Linux, Docker, AWS, GIT in terms of both tools and systems engineering

  • Experience with enterprise software capacity planning a big plus

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience in software engineering, focusing on performance and scale.
