Purpose/Scope:

The Logistics Manager plans and coordinates the ordering and distribution of products, parts and accessories.

This position will be based in Japan, primarily at a customer location aboard Marine Corp Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, in support of the Amentum Base Operations & Support contract with the US Department of Defense (DoD)/Navy- Marine Corps.

Our team is looking for an organized and analytical professional. A successful candidate will have strong communication and problem-solving skills to support a rewarding customer mission.  This is full time position providing operational mission support.

In addition to meeting the necessary qualifications the selected candidate must be comfortable working in a dynamic and high-energy environment.

Working Environment: Non-SOFA assignment

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures adequate and timely ordering and distribution to attain maximum on-time work completion.
  • Develops and implements customer service functions, physical distribution warehousing, and production and traffic strategies.
  • Establishes and executes policies, programs and procedures to support logistics requirements.
  • Manages all distribution functions including ordering, shipping and receiving both locally and internationally.
  • Determines standardized procedures and work schedules to improve efficiency of subordinates.
  • Oversees and manages operations of company provided assets and services to include permanent or temporary vehicles and housing.
  • Manages material ordering and procurement using multiple available methods and sources to support internal teams.
  • Provides support in developing requirements, Bills Of Material, and delivery timelines for multiple departments and projects.

Minimum Knowledge:

  • Typically, eight (8) to ten (10) years of experience in logistics with at least one (1) year in supervision or management of logistics or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an associated discipline preferred. Two (2) years' related work experience may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of logistics and distribution systems.
  • Proven results in dealing with internal and external customer requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good understanding of logistics problems and applications.
  • Experience working in a diverse multi-cultural and multi-disciplined work environment.
  • Experience guiding and developing team of subordinates.

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of up to 50 pounds.
  • The diversity of the work conditions may range from an environment where there is little to no physical discomfort to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc.
  • Travel to austere or inhospitable high stress environments may be required.
  • May be required to work in areas where high noise levels prevail.
  • Must be able to stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to twelve (12) hours per day and sit for up to eight (8) hours per day.
  • Must possess physical dexterity and coordination.
  • Must be willing to work flexible schedules and off shifts to meet the needs of the operation.


Licenses & Certifications:

  • Candidate must possess a valid passport of home country with a minimum of 12 months remaining to expiration date.  If not currently a resident of Japan will be expected to obtain a company-sponsored Japanese Work Visa.
  • Position does typically require the applicant to drive in the performance of work duties.  If applicant is eligible to operate a Company provided vehicle the applicant must be legally authorized to operate a vehicle safely in the Country of Japan as well as aboard the installation.  Vehicle operators will be subject to US Military traffic citation point system. 
  • Transportation is not provided to locally hired personnel for the purpose of commuting to and from the workplace.  Non-locally hired are expected to obtain and maintain the legal ability to operate a Company provided vehicle both on and off the installation for the purpose of commute and/or on-site transportation.  Those unable to obtain and maintain the legal means to operate a motor vehicle in Japan or aboard the installation will be responsible for their own transportation for all purposes.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
