SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL: This position is eligible for $1.00 per hour shift differential pay for hours worked during designated evening and weekend shifts in accordance with university guidelines.

Purpose:
Dining Student Assistants support operations in UHD dining locations by providing customer service and assisting with a variety of tasks including greeting and serving guests, operating registers, restocking supplies, washing dishes, maintaining clean dining spaces and assisting with food preparation and service. This position provides varied responsibilities that shift from day to day, creating a dynamic work experience. Designed with students in mind, this role offers flexible hours, hands-on experience in customer service and teamwork and the chance to be part of a supportive team.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities May Include):
Greet and serve guests with a smile—your friendly vibe matters!
Serve food and beverages in a safe and professional way.
Work as part of a team, ask questions, and learn from your supervisors.
Restock supplies like condiments, napkins, and beverages so everyone’s set for success.
Wash dishes and help keep things sparkling clean (dining areas, kitchens, restrooms, walls, windows, and more).
Run the register/POS system and handle transactions accurately.
Follow food safety rules—store, prep, and serve food properly while keeping logs.
Help with set-up before service and clean-up after.
Lend a hand in training new student staff.
Be on time, stay safe, and complete required training (Texas Food Handler included).
Pitch in on other tasks as needed—variety is part of the job!

Compensation:
$13.00 per hour

Working Conditions:
This is an active, fast-paced role—you’ll be on your feet, moving around, and helping out in different areas. Expect some lifting (up to 50 lbs), working around heat, cold, steam, and cleaning supplies, and wearing the proper safety gear. It’s a busy environment, and a fun one—you’ll always have something to do and a team by your side.
Work Shift:
Workdays, hours, and area may vary based upon the needs of the unit and University Housing and Dining (UHD).
Shifts may include mornings, evenings, weekends, or special events.
