Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Cyber Systems Engineer Manager 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

The Missile Defense Solutions (MDS) Business Unit (BU) Engineering organization pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is looking for you to join our team as a Cyber Systems Engineering Manager 1 based out of Colorado Springs, CO.

Essential Functions:

The Cyber Systems Engineering Manager 1 will manage an on-site team providing engineering support to a BU program in Colorado Springs, CO. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage a team of 8+ direct reports – mainly cyber and integration
  • Fulfilling functional manager roles to help foster and maintain high levels of engagement among their own team
  • Performing functional manager roles and responsibilities (i.e. staffing, recruiting, timecard approval, performance reviews, etc.)
  • Support Career Development of current talent among team members
  • Interact with internal key executive and customers on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations and provide guidance and oversight to the employees
  • Requires a technical position (80% role) on the C2BMC program

The successful candidate must be a self-starter and have the ability to challenge the status quo. This individual must be customer-focused with proven leadership and excellent communication skills as well as a leader in change management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active Secret clearance is required
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in leadership and/or management roles in Cyber Systems Engineering positions or a Master’s degree plus 3 years experience in leadership and/or management roles in Cyber Systems Engineering positions.  An additional 4 years of directly applicable experience may be considered in lieu of the completed degree.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Active TS clearance
  • Project management experience

Additional Northrop Grumman Information:

Salary Range: $115,000.00 - $172,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
