JOB SUMMARY: 

The Clinic Nurse performs basic to advanced ophthalmic nursing, administrative, and management functions to ensure a seamless patient experience. The role supports doctors and other eye care specialists to deliver high-quality patient care.

YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS ARE: 

Diagnostic Procedures

  • Assist physicians with patient care and diagnostic procedures.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, administer eye drops, and ensure accurate diagnostic result documentation.
  • Perform basic diagnostic procedures under physician supervision.
  • Assists the Diagnostics Team by performing basic diagnostic procedures such as corneal topography, aberrometry, biometry, visual field, optical coherence tomography, specular microscopy, etc.
  • Ensures the correct administration of ordered medication by observing guidelines such as Time Out, Triple Check, and the 5Rs - Right Patient, Right Drug, Right Laterality, Right Dose, and Right Time and Frequency.
  • Coordinate genetic testing with physicians, patients, and couriers.

2. Exam Room and Records Keeping Maintenance 

  • Prepare the exam rooms and check the completeness of tasks done by the Nursing Assistant. 
  • Assist the Patient Flow Center (PFC) and Diagnostics Team in receiving and discharging patients from the Diagnostics Area by accurate encoding in the monitoring database.
  • Accomplish endorsement logbooks by verifying the recorded information to the current situation in the clinic.
  • Verify that patient records for the next clinic day are complete by receiving the records and cross-checking them with the prepared list.
  • Aid in the analysis of clinic-related data by generating and submitting reports promptly.
  • Turn over exam rooms at the end of the clinic by securing and keeping lenses and other instruments.
     

3. Mentorship and Skill Development  

  • Train and mentor new Ophthalmic Nurses.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and identify training needs.
  • Provide administrative support to department leadership such as correspondence, tracking and reporting, performance monitoring and presentations, supplies management, and logistics.
     

4. Patient Coordination 

  • Optimize patient flow according to clinic procedures.
  • Review patient medical records and communicate treatment plans.
  • Provide patient estimates and coordinate insurance approvals.
  • Guide patients through the clinic process
     

Qualifications: 

  • At least one (1) to two (2)+ years of experience as a nurse 
  • Completed at least a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing 
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Preferably with Basic and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support Training
  • Preferably Intravenous Therapy Training Certified
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Analytical thinking skills
