We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Strategies Manager. Reporting to the Senior Assistant Head, the appointee leads a team of Learning Strategists who collaborate with faculties to design and develop cutting-edge blended learning experiences, provide strategic guidance for implementing innovative digital teaching and learning practices across NIE. In this role, the appointee sets clear and achievable team goals, develops effective strategies to achieve them, and ensures their successful execution. Additionally, the appointee will strategically assign tasks and projects, manage the hiring process, performance reviews, and provide coaching and professional development for the team.  

The appointee will work closely with the other teams in the department to research, develop, and present innovative and pedagogically sound design solutions to stakeholders, in pursuit of enhanced practice and outcomes. The appointee should be familiar with the training and adult education landscape.

Responsibilities

1. Management & Operation of the Learning Strategies Team

a) Provide strategic goals and direction for the team, ensuring their work drives positive learning outcomes.

b) Manage the team's budget and allocate resources strategically.

c) Ensure the team has the necessary resources (tools and training) to perform their jobs effectively.

d) Manage the team’s performance by

  • strategically assigning tasks and projects
  • providing expert advice, coaching, and professional development opportunities related to developing, implementing, and evaluating innovative and evidence-based teaching and learning practices at NIE
  • creating an environment that fosters open communication and collaboration within the team

e) Lead continuous improvement by regularly monitoring the team's project progress, reviewing, and evaluating project outcomes, and ensuring all projects are completed on time and leverage pedagogically sound and innovative design solutions.

f) Communicate team achievements and performance to IN-Learning’s management through comprehensive reports.

g) Provide regular project updates and progress reports to NIE stakeholders. This includes preparing and delivering presentations to visiting institutions.

2. Leading Evidence-based Innovation Teaching and Learning within NIE

a) Collaborate with your team of Learning Strategists to:

  • Assess faculty capability development needs through qualitative and quantitative data analysis, to inform their work in designing, developing, and evaluating learner-centered blended learning experiences and fostering assessment literacy.
  • Research adult learning theories, strategies, data, and appropriate educational technology tools to design, develop, and facilitate impactful face-to-face and online tech-enhanced workshops for faculty.
  • Assess the learning needs of IN-Learning specialists in learning design and emerging technology.
  • Design, develop, and facilitate engaging initiatives to support IN-Learning specialists in building their expertise in learning design and emerging technology.

b) Collaborate with NIE faculty to

  • Identify learning needs for courses they teach, with a focus on improving student engagement.
  • Propose frameworks, new/enhanced learning outcomes, tech-enabled teaching and learning strategies, and assessments as part of course redesigning.
  • Propose appropriate educational technology to overcome knowledge gaps and enhance the learning outcomes of the courses.
  • Achieve constructive alignment of the learning outcomes with the learning activities and assessment in their courses.

c) Collaborate with cross-functional teams to:

  • Research, develop and present evidence-based and innovative design solutions with the project team to stakeholders.
  • Research and evaluate frameworks and educational technology tools for implementation to optimize and innovate teaching, learning and assessment practices in NIE.
  • Research, write grant proposals and develop tech-enabled learning solutions.
  • Work together on initiatives with IN-Learning's Engagement, Planning and Research team to share learning sciences knowledge and improve practices institute-wide.
  • Carry out action research by:
  • conceptualizing frameworks and methodologies 
  • designing evaluation instruments 
  • gathering and analyzing data (e.g. Learning Analytics)
  • formulating decisions to improve the effectiveness of learning experiences and our Capability Development initiatives
  • Contribute to special projects on teaching and learning, as required.

3. Keep Up with Learning Sciences and Innovative Teaching and Learning Practices

a) Stay current on learning sciences, innovative teaching and learning practices in higher education (e.g., personalized learning, adaptive learning, e-assessment, hybrid learning, learning analytics, and Artificial Intelligence).

b) Foster a culture of continuous learning within the team by providing opportunities for professional development and encouraging knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • A University degree, preferably in Instructional Design, Education or Learning Sciences and Technologies.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in instructional design, teaching and learning, within a higher educational setting or with adult learners. Proven ability to lead and manage successful learning projects.
  • A minimum of at least 3 years of managerial experience in a higher educational setting or with adult learners.
  • Expert knowledge of applying Adult Learning theories in the design of Blended Learning experiences.
  • Possess good analytical skills to facilitate the interpretation of data for decision-making purposes.
  • Possess strong research skills.
  • Possess strong written, verbal, and presentation skills. Ability to prepare effective presentations and reports tailored to diverse audiences, including IN-Learning’s management, faculties, and stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of emerging educational technologies for teaching and learning.
  • Excellent time management skills to meet multiple deadlines simultaneously and consistently deliver high-quality results.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience in facilitating both face-to-face and online sessions.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management System and a demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new tools and processes with minimal support.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly motivated, able to work independently yet also a strong team player.
  • A willingness to learn and develop capabilities, and to acquire and share new knowledge.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
