POSITION SUMMARY

Assemble and teardown as required on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.  Candidate will be required to work in a team environment with other Co-Workers and Management.  Good communication skills are necessary.

ASSEMBLY/TEARDOWN PRINCIPAL DUTIES

Teardown, Parts Preparation, and Assemble-60%

  • Clean parts as required using solvent tank or pressure washer
  • Determine identity and locate components and transport them to work area
  • Obtain necessary tools and equipment
  • Plan assembly and wiring sequence for point to point, direct or harness wiring
  • Lubricate, change fluids/filters, and fuel machinery
  • Assemble and build experimental machines as directed
  • Setup, align and assemble parts, sub-assemblies and complete machine with emphasizes on quality
  • Handle material, tools and equipment manually or with jib crane, performing own hitching as required
  • Determine identity and locate components and transport them to work area
  • Obtain necessary tools and equipment
  • Rebuild machinery and clean, repair, reassemble, and adjust machine as necessary

Fabricate-20%

  • Spray paint parts as required using aerosol paint
  • Layout, cut and fit parts as required to weld in place
  • Obtain material, tools and Equipment to fabricate parts as needed

Other -20%

  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
  • Keep tools, equipment and work area clean and orderly.  Work in a safe manner.
  • Prepare machinery for shipping         

                                                           

           

           

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

                       

Education/Experience: H.S. Diploma or equivalent along with a minimum of 3 years of experience with similar responsibilities.  Trade school and/or college classes may be substituted for experience.

Skills

  • Ability to read and understand drawings and schematics
  • Knowledge of hand tools and their proper use
  • Ability to use electric or pneumatic tools safely
  • Safely drive forklift using proper guidelines
  • Ability to safely operate speed swing using proper guidelines
  • Ability to operate a jib crane safely
  • Ability to layout, drill and tap holes
  • Ability to make parts as needed
  • Knowledge of some basic electrical wiring skills
  • Knowledge of air arcing, gas cutting and plasma cutting

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to regularly lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Requires full range of body motion, using all extremities, ability to walk unassisted, normal fine motor dexterity and normal strength
  • Normal, correctable vision ability is required
  • Requires the ability to frequently climb, stoop and bend. 

Required Safety Equipment:

  • Safety glasses with side shields
  • Steel toed safety shoes with non-skid soles
  • Hearing protection as required
  • Face shield/jacket/gloves as required
  • Respirator while sanding/grinding
  • Any additional PPE as required to maintain a safe environment

           

WORKING CONDITIONS:  Manufacturing shop environment subject to moderate noise, oil, grease and dirt.  Individual must be able to work in an outdoor environment as needed in inclement weather.  Work hours vary according to workload.
