The Opportunity:

Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Respiratory Therapist Assistant to join our Respiratory Therapy team!

The Respiratory Therapy team at Central Maine Medical Center is dedicated to improving the quality of life for our patients with respiratory disorders.

The Respiratory Therapist Assistant is a great opportunity for a 1st year Respiratory Therapy student, or those thinking of switching career paths, or who is planning to enroll in a respiratory therapy program!

With a flexible schedule, this per diem position will provide the opportunity to earn while you learn!

The Respiratory Therapist Assistant provides support to the Central Maine Medical Center Respiratory Therapy team by:

  • fulfill clerical/material management duties.
  • Supports the Patient Transport process.
  • Responsible for performing multiple duties that require expertise in the assembly, transport, disinfection, calibration and troubleshooting of respiratory related equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining an appropriate level of equipment in the various respiratory work areas and assisting the Respiratory Therapist with various procedures and tasks, as directed.   

Essential Duties:

  • Cleaning, assembly, calibration, troubleshooting and transport of Respiratory Therapy equipment.

  • Unpacking deliveries of supplies

  • Stocking shelves

  • Check code carts and restock as needed

  • Stocking oxygen cylinders daily

Education and Experience:

  • High school graduate

  • Currently enrolled as a first-year student in an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program

  • Current BLS

  • Demonstrated proficiency in respiratory equipment handling may be trained to assemble, troubleshoot and assist with bedside bronchoscopy services

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic computer knowledge

  • Additional languages preferred

  • Ability to engage patients and team members utilizing the CMH Experience Standards
