Associate Finance Controller

Associate Finance Controller is a new position for supporting our successful start-up operation launched in November 2023 at the port of Alexandroupolis. It is a perfect opportunity for a mid-career expert with ambitions to work for an international company with local presence in Greece.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to development of new reporting systems for local reporting requirements and evaluate required system and accounting setup
  • Collaborate with external consultants and internal global teams to ensure compliance with accounting and tax principles, standards, and regulations
  • Address accounting and tax related inquiries
  • Handle obligations and procedures for corporate tax returns (VAT, VIES, INTRASTAT, Withholding tax, etc)
  • Monitor internal controls and company KPIs
  • Participate in audits and provide support as needed
  • Collaborate with Global Service Center for accounting tasks such as:
    • Be a back up and support for processing accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and timely.
    • Be  a back up and support for reconciling bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial records.
    • Make sure that records of financial transactions and documents are accurate and up-to-date
    • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
    • Analyse financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
    • Be the SPOC and liaising partner for colleagues in GSC

Who we are looking for

  • All-rounded finance professional, holder of accounting degree with at least 5 years of experience in accounting and reporting
  • Solid knowledge of Greek legislation and standards, especially of obligations and procedures for corporate tax returns (VAT, VIES, INTRASTAT, Withholding tax, etc)
  • Familiar with relevant systems like Microsoft Dynamics and of course MS Office
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written
  • Comfortable working in a matrix organization and international environment, flexible in combining face-to-face time with local team and connecting remotely with colleagues in different locations
  • Experience in the maritime industry would be an advantage
