Occupational Therapist Grade 3 / Clinical Leader

Fixed Term, Full Time Role until November 2025

About the Role

An opportunity currently exists for an Occupational therapist to join the Occupational therapy team on a fixed term, part time basis.  The role is for a grade 3 clinician to lead the team both clinically and operationally at the St. Georges hospital campus in sub-acute care stream.  You will have experience in working with a neurological case load and a demonstrated knowledge to undertake relevant evidence-based assessments and interventions to support this patient cohort including management of NDIS applications.  You will be responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of a high-quality occupational therapy service to inpatients of the sub-acute stream at St. Georges hospital.  This role requires proven skills in leadership and supporting a team of therapist’s and staff; and to oversee the day-to-day operation of the occupational therapy service at St. Georges hospital with opportunities to work at the Fitzroy site as required.

Duties include:

  • Undertake a clinical caseload and provide a clinically relevant service based on evidence-based practice.  

  • Contribute to the planning and development of activities and services of the Occupational Therapy service

  • Actively participate in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the Occupational Therapy Rehabilitation and GEM service.

  • Staff clinical loads, annual leave, ADO’s and conference leave are effectively and efficiently managed in consultation with the occupational therapy manager.

  • Foster and implement a culture of ongoing continuing education, research and translation of evidence-based practice.

Classifications for this position will range from VG3 - VG6 ($102,091 - $116,646 per annum)


Your contribution

  • A sound interest & working knowledge of Aged care and the Rehabilitation experience, and to provide a lead role in the effective occupational therapy contribution to care of the older person service provision.

  • Sound experience in the sub-acute setting: physical rehabilitation or/and geriatric evaluation and management. 

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of and commitment to continuous quality improvement

  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and translation of evidence to practice
