The Supplier Quality Engineer – Towers is responsible for ensuring that tower suppliers across North America meet the required quality, technical, and manufacturing standards for safe, reliable, and compliant delivery of products. This role acts as the key quality interface between the business and the supply base, driving supplier qualification, continuous improvement, issue resolution, and compliance with internal specifications and applicable industry standards.
The role supports the full supplier lifecycle, from onboarding and qualification through production monitoring, defect prevention, corrective actions, and performance improvement. It plays a critical part in protecting product quality, reducing supply chain risk, and ensuring timely delivery of fit-for-purpose tower components

Job Description

GE Vernova’s Wind Sourcing Supplier Quality organization is seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to support tower suppliers across North America.

In this role, you will be responsible for qualifying tower suppliers and key sub-suppliers throughout the region, ensuring that safety and quality standards are consistently maintained during serial production, and leading the analysis and resolution of nonconformities. You will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives through failure mode analysis and the enhancement of defect detection and prevention processes.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, proven experience in supplier quality, and solid program management capabilities, with the ability to work effectively across functional teams, including Sourcing, Engineering, Project Management and Supplier Organizations.

The candidate will be expected to lead supplier-facing activities and collaborate closely with key stakeholders to ensure that products meet GE Vernova’s technical and quality requirements.

A strong command of core quality tools is essential. The role requires the rigorous application of quality methodologies to manage supplier qualification processes such as PPAP, defect prevention through pFMEA, structured problem solving using 8D, supplier evaluation through audits, and serial production monitoring using established key performance indicators and CTQs.

In addition, the ideal candidate will demonstrate transparency, accountability, and a strong sense of urgency when addressing any safety or quality observation, ensuring timely resolution and effective mitigation of risk and impact.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure supplier compliance with all safety requirements and proactively mitigate systemic risks through robust root cause analysis and corrective action management.
  • Develop and lead supplier qualification plans in alignment with APQP4Wind requirements and the Quality Gates framework, ensuring timely delivery of components that meet GE Vernova’s specifications and expectations.
  • Maintain supplier quality standards following qualification by overseeing PFMEA validation, adherence to agreed quality plans, and execution of follow-up audits.
  • Ensure that all special processes and NDT activities are qualified and audited in accordance with the approved schedule, taking prompt and effective action in the event of any deviations.
  • Manage supplier deviations, including internal supplier deviations and escaping defects, by implementing containment measures, conducting thorough root cause analysis, and driving preventive and corrective actions to closure.
  • Partner with suppliers to develop improvement and innovation initiatives focused on reducing potential failure modes through enhanced detection, control, and process robustness.
  • Support GCL in defining the sourcing strategy in North America and in the development of new suppliers

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in supplier quality or manufacturing quality.
  • Experience in supplier quality and program management within an industrial, manufacturing, energy, or heavy equipment environment.
  • Experience with special processes such as welding, steel making, coating and NDT
  • Knowledge of process qualification, certification, surveillance, and audit practices for critical manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, sourcing, quality, and supplier organizations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to define immediate containment actions and correction, analysis of root causes and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Strong knowledge of main tools for supplier manufacturing, pFMEA, MPP (Manufacturing Process Plan), ITP (Inspection and Test Plan), MSA (Measurement System Analysis) and Capability Studies.
  • Experience performing supplier audits (Process, Product and Systems)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as required to support supplier qualification, surveillance, and business needs.

Desired Characteristics

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Materials, Manufacturing, Quality, Metallurgy, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5 or more years of relevant experience in supplier quality, special processes, or manufacturing quality.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing and special process for heavy welding works components
  • Familiarity with industry standards and certification requirements related to welding, coatings, corrosion protection, and NDT.
  • Professional certifications or qualifications in relevant technical disciplines are preferred, such as:
    • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent welding certification
    • Level II / Level III or equivalent certification in applicable NDT methods
    • Quality certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or similar
    • Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement certification
  • Strong technical judgment, problem-solving capability, and ownership mindset

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $94,600.00 and $157,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
