Mercer University is searching for an Evening Student Success Coordinator for the Henry County Regional Academic Center.


 

Responsibilities:

As members of the Strategic Operations and Student Success Team in the Office of Enrollment Management, the Student Success Coordinator, manages the evening and Saturday operations of the Henry County Regional Academic Center to ensure effective service for students and administrative support for faculty. Leads the Center’s team in providing support services for academic programs and implements and enforces applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines issued by Mercer University Strategic Operations and the Colleges/Schools offering programs at the center. Assists admissions staff and others in promoting center programs as needed to meet enrollment targets at the discretion of Enrollment Management. Student Success Evening Coordinator works in harmony with the Student Success Day Coordinator, Assistant Director, and or the Director of Strategic Operations and Student Success to enhance retention by providing a clean, high-quality learning environment for center students. The Center's Evening Student Success Coordinator oversees operations of the Henry Center with a significant degree of freedom under the direct supervision of the Director of Operations.

Position hours are 2:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Saturday. Other hours as required for periodic meetings/special events. The weekly average is 40 hours with an onsite meal break. *On-call management requires being on campus within 20 minutes of receiving a phone call.

Qualifications:

A master's degree (preferably in teacher education, counseling, human services, liberal studies, public safety, business administration, leadership, human resources, administration, communications, and/or information systems) and some experience teaching or coordinating with teachers and adult students in an educational institution are required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to communicate (verbal and written) with many organizations, both internal and external to the university.

  • Effective communication with students and faculty and coordination with other coordinators/strategic operations staff are essential to the success of the Center and recruitment/retention of students.

  • Knowledgeable of general management policies and principles necessary to coordinate the use and security of center facility and resources.

  • Must be flexible and able to respond to changing situations and the needs of students, faculty, and other staff to coordinate the operations of the Center.

  • Student Success Coordinator required to be familiar with the adult non–traditional college student.

  • Strong leadership abilities required to supervise student employees and coordinate Center success with other coordinators and university staff.

  • Knowledge of educational programs in general and the programs offered in the Regional Academic Centers is necessary to promote the programs and assist in recruitment and retention of students.

  • Strong organizational/administrative skills required to organize the physical site, allocate equipment ,and schedule the use of classrooms and other Center facilities.

  • Basic knowledge in the operations of personal computers, fax machine, telephone, answering devices (voice mail), copiers, and technology media required to support center administration as well as an effective learning and teaching environment.

  • Basic knowledge of other university organizations and with whom to coordinate support for the Henry County Center in consultation with the Director of Strategic Operations.
