Lumentum is seeking a Senior Optical Packaging Engineer to work on the development of tunable transceivers and optical devices. The successful candidate should be highly motivated and demonstrate an ability to multi-task and to work effectively in a team environment. In this role, the successful candidate will have an opportunity to work as part of a world-class engineering team.

Responsibilities will include:

• Mechanical development of packaging for integrated optics devices – conduct packaging layout and architecture.

• Simulation of optoelectronics, materials and packaging of integrated optical assemblies.

• Design and verify optical-mechanical structures.

• Design alignment and assembly process of optical devices.

• Includes initial proof of concept for the device, define test stations and materials for development, provide a process control and test plan.

• Provide requirements for products, supporting PIC/Hardware/Mechanical Design

• Work with packaging manufacturers for parts production.

• Support quality team on failure and yield analysis and also processes improvement.

Skill requirements:

• Bachelor's in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Processes Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or related field.

• 5+ years' experience as a packaging engineer.

• Experience with optical instrumentation and testing.

• Experience with Solidworks or Autocad.

• Experience with requirements definition.

• Experience with processes automation for optical alignment (preferred, not required).
